Carriage weight - marathon carriage suggestions?

IF you are more likely to be doing Welsh Shows and IF CDE is more a dream or a someday

THEN the Eagle is a VERY good price on CDL
The amount of metal on the Eagle never makes them look dominantly the color they are painted and the burgundy is deep and rich - not real RED

AND you can drive the Eagle at Training level CDE easily still

IF you are getting a marathon vehicle, then keeping a basic cart is a smart move for showing Welsh. From my limited POV you will not be as happy with a marathon vehicle in a breed show, maybe local pleasure but not much higher

Liz Perry (who used to train with Jimmy Fairclough) once drove her warmblood to a single marathon vehicle in a pleasure show and honestly should have taken the concours d’elegance over what else was in the ring
BUT that was before the current design trends in marathon vehicles with single drivers seats andlow sweeping fender lines

I think they are a bit too techno for the breed pleasure ring

Drive NJ, you are right, i’ve battled with myself over it all day.

The Eagle would be nice for the welsh shows. I’ve seen a bit of everything at them, i dont think it has to be anything SUPER fancy, but yes, a marathon carriage would be a bit too “techno!”

But honestly, a cart will be easier for me to transport to the breed shows, keep things easy to store while there (since parking is usually not very close if it’s at a fairgrounds), take less space, etc… And keep the marathon carriage for driving at home, on the trails, and future CDE stuff. I did email and get the measurements on the Eagle and it’s just a tad too big to fit into my truck bed. So that would mean it wouldnt be going anywhere until we get a new trailer this winter. It wouldnt fit in my 3h slant with a horse in there.

So, i’m still on the hunt for a marathon vehicle, and now probably a cheap decent road cart or similar for the welsh shows. I think that’s my final decision, and i think i’m sticking to it… I think…

I am a novice driver and am looking at purchasing a Pacific Supelite. Do you think this is a quality buggy?
