I must say, on a tough day, that I appreciate both my job and my vet. This morning when Cory was worse, I called the vet soon as I could. Of course, I’ve already had an extensive conversation with them about her earlier this week, and she was on the surgery schedule for next week for exam under anesthesia and going from there. But I told them I needed to cancel that and we needed to just put her to sleep. Enough. This is the end of the line. The receptionist put me on hold to go talk to the doc doing small animal surgery this morning (they don’t have office appointments until the afternoon; the place was deserted of patients when I got there), then came back and said she’d see me at 10:00, which actually just left enough time for me to get the cat caught and drive to town. Basically zero delay. Of course, they have known me and my critters for 20 years, but I do appreciate them taking me seriously when I said I wanted to end things ASAP.
Then work. I literally told them, didn’t ask them but told them, that I was leaving to take the cat to the vet and would be gone a few hours. No advance notice at all, just sent out a message to the management IM thread that I’d be back later, bye. Fridays are very busy days, too. But nobody has said anything the rest of the day about me just up and leaving. Okay, if I needed to be gone, fine.
Both of those entities made a tough day a bit easier.
