Cavalor Venus

anyone tried it? Seems relatively new to the states, so can’t find too many reviews on it.

www.cavalor.com/sc-en/products/details/134/cavalor-venus is this what your talking about?

Yes that’s the one!

Glad i could be of help!

Cavalor is SO frustrating that you can’t find real information on the products. I mean, “Mixture of grain, pellets and rice bran” is not helpful in the least.

The Venus main ingredient seems to be Chaste Tree Berry (that’s the vitex agnus castus). Zero indication how much.

Magnesium doesn’t calm a horse unless they are deficient - adding more if they aren’t doesn’t quiet them down.

B6 is a B vitamin that doesn’t have any documented deficiencies in horses. There’s no research I can find that supports their claim that it has a “positive influence on metabolic processes during the cycle”.

So if it were me looking to help a mare’s cycles quiet down a bit, I’d do plain Chaste Tree Berry, though first I’d make sure the diet was high enough in magnesium.

In this day and age, where grain distributors are expected to post their GA online – and do so willingly – I cannot comprehend why Cavalor elects to remain completely obscure in its GA. The only possible reason I can fathom is that they’re really not different than any other run-of-the-mill feedmill…

It’s 2017. Grain mills started posting their GAs online in the early 2000’s.

I’ve worked in an event barn that had a trainer that was ‘sponsored’ by Cavalor, and set up their grain every day… Honestly, I didn’t see much difference between the trainer’s horses and the boarders (on Blue Seal, TC, or Poulin) and the Cavalor to me just seemed like very extruded sweet feed. It sure did smell nice, but then again, so does Vintage Victory and that’s no indication of quality.

There’s a very limited GA for the only feed listed on the site given above
http://www.cavalor.com/library/products/130/documents/PDS_WholeGain.pdf

There are other companies that do this too - limited GA online, and no ingredient list.

But mostly no, they are useless.

I do know that a lot of their feeds are high in NSC because of how much cereal grains there are. They aren’t a company I’d do business with simply because there are far better, healthier feeds out there. I think they are relatively popular with a lot of BNTs and BNRs because their high performance horses can take, and possibly need that higher NSC. But none of the feeds that I’ve gotten more info on are really suitable for the average horse.

I have had really good luck with this seller for getting information on the products and what is in them.

Also, if you go the Cavalor North America facebook page they recently posted a video about the
Venus.
