There you go, not following directionsâI believe the OP asked that negative comments be sent via Private Message. Lets help people out when theyâre trying to keep these boards friendlyâŠ
My personal experience with Chad has been overwhelmingly positive. I bought a fancy pre-green horse from him and it was everything he represented it to be and he was very accomodating to meâkeeping the horse in his barn and exercising it while I finished up showing in FL.
He also has one of my horses to sell and sheâs fatter and slicker than when I sent her to him, which made me feel embarrassed a bit, as I pride myself on my fat horses.
Iâve also seen him be incredibly honest. I sent him potential customers for my horse and he was honest in pointing out that he thought it wouldnât be a good fit and I have heard him say âno bad sale is worth the moneyââhe knows that reputation for fairly representing horses is as important as his eye for finding nice ones. Iâve also tried horses at his farm several times before I bought one from him and heâs been honest about any horseâs âholesâ when I askedâhe knows what I like and wonât waste my time trying the wrong horses.
Heâs exceptionally nice and giving of his time and effortsâwhile I wonât say that Iâve never heard him yell, if youâre going to fault a trainer for yelling at students, youâre going to fault a majority of the trainers, including some of the icons of our sport.
What I also like about Chad is that he treats the people who come with 20k to spend the same as those who have bought multiple 6 figure horses from him. Heâs a good person and has a well-earned, overhwhelmingly positive reputation. He also is a âgo toâ person for a lot of people, so if you want to find a nice horse or sell a nice horse, he has the volume of traffic that most horse trainers dream of. Everyone sells a horse from time-to-time that doesnât work out as well in the next home, and sometimes they work out much betterâitâs just luck, good or bad.
Iâve always heard very positive things about him, though have never dealt with him directly! He certainly has some nice horsesâI wouldnât kick any of them out of my barn!
Why do people start threads like this? I understand wanting to get feedback from people but really, there is always going to be someone to rip someone apart. Not everyone has A+ experiences with people. If youâre curious about someone, go see them, and trust your basic instinct about them. Ask around your local network of horse friends and get a general idea if youâre not the intuitive kind. I know plenty of people in my area who know Chad and I could ask them all their opinions of him but I would truly rather form my own opinion of him, no?
These kinds of things go downhill pretty fast, especially on the internet and no one deserves to have their reputation spread out like butter on a piece of toast like that. Especially since the OP seems to already have their horse in his care, I would think you would have done your homework before putting your horse in his barn. Obviously you think enough of him already, why ask here?
Itâs even better than that, jse. The OP had her horse with him more than a year ago. Iâd lay money that her horse has long since sold. Showhtr dug this thing up in order to be nasty. Klassy.
Nice catch on the letâs revive an old thread but since it has been done
Love the guy!!! Great to do business with, very open and honest, always answers his phone or responds back to you! Getâs an A+ from me

Holy smokes! I didnât notice that! WowâŠwhy? Why do people do this stuff? I understand if you have bad experiences with people, Iâve had quite a few of my own but I think the least professional thing to do is to come on the internet and blab about how bad they are. I think it shines a bit on the crabby person and not having anything better to do!
Iâm sure that would come as a relief to him. No professional wants to be associated with someone who trashes another professional online and identifies their own trainer in their one other post on the same board.
I met chad for the first time recently, and while only a brief encounter, he struck me as being incredibly honest and forthcoming about his horses. I got a really good feeling about him.

Nothing but positive things about Chad. Honest and a good horseman. He has sold 2 for me over the years and no problems whatsoever. Plus he is a really nice person. Iâd buy or sell with him any day!

Nothing ButâŠ
Good Things to say about Chad âŠ
He is hard working. and he represents his horses to the best of his ability . I have known Chad. Seen Chad at shows . and conversed with Chad on many different levels. Look at his track record. Review his sales record . And most of all look at the return customers he has.
That alone will tell you how and what Chad Keenum is all about . Just a good guy trying to make a living . What is wrong with that .
Best of luck at Capital Challenge and continued success.
Way To Go Chad !!!
