It’s my understanding that it has to do with the different clutch mechanism in an electric saw. Because of the way the clutch works, the saw doesn’t stop when hitting kevlar.

Thank you! I can attest that my little saw will totally stop if it pulls leaves into the gears so I think that kevlar will do the trick too. Now I need to find small ones. Someone suggested that the Stilhl ones in 32" are short enough.
Definitely look around for chaps that are rated for non gas saws. The Stihl chaps warn against it.

I got a pair of Oregon chainsaw pants. They are definitely better than trying to do this with just jeans on!
