Cheapest clumping cat litter?
kitty flushed the toilet non-stop from the time they left for work in the morning until the key turned in the lock signalling a return & kitty raced out to greet his people.
This made me laugh out loud.

Dr. Elsey’s precious cat litter in the blue 40lb bags. No dust, great odor control and it lasts longer.

Right now you can get a $5 coupon at the above link and there are no restrictions on its use. You can use it for more than one bag at time at the same visit.

Petsmart had it on sale for 12.99 a bag last week so with the coupon it was 7.99 for 40 lbs of litter.

I think I got more excited about that than any other sale I’ve seen in a long time. lol

I use a no name brand cat litter from Costco (green box) it’s 8.88 after taxes for a 22kg box (so 48lb).

Dust is minimal, it’s scent free but does a great job of clumping and traping the pee smell.

Only complaint is the box is soo darn heavy that when you use the handles they usually rip.

I use Purina chicken crumbles. Clumps just like cat litter but is far cheaper. I can get a 50 lb bag for around $16.
I use chick starter feed (the smallest sized chicken feed)- again 50 lb bag for $14-15 bucks. Clumps great and better for the environment than the clay based litters. The cats like it too.

As an aside I can’t help but mention the title of an article that I once saw in the onion. “like boxes of shit in your house?..get a cat!!!” : )

I hate clay cat litter, the other stuff was too expensive and stinks so I use fine shavings. Big bag at TSC for $5 lasts a long time, doesn’t stink and is good for my compost pile.

I keep thinking there has to be a better way than traditional cat litter it is just so wasteful. Right now I’m also letting my cats (I have three indoor cats) use a large potted plant as a toilet. I haven’t done anything with it for two months other than pick poops and water once in a while. My sister in law was sitting next to it and was shocked to learn that was where the cats were going, she couldn’t smell anything. Everyone thought the idea was crazy but I was basing it on the concept of natural filtration…layers of charcoal, gravel, sand and dirt for the plant. I wish someone else would try it so we could perfect the “recipe”. I would love to free the world from the grip of using disgusting cat litter.
