Chia for Horses?

I know this is a few years old but wanted to bump it up see if anyone has more information to offer, any updates and Ill add a couple of links with more information. I personally have just started both my horses on Chia seeds and I’m getting them at Costco.

I still think flax does what you want cheaper and better.

I feed flax seed oil in a small amount already and definitely like Flax seed.

When it comes to the fats and fiber they seem very similar I’m more interested in some of the other qualities that Chia seems to offer so possibly those benefits are worth the increased cost to some.

Horsetech offers a product that combines flax and chia seeds:

I’ve fed ground flax for years, but I’ve just started my horse on this over the past week. I’ll be interested to see if there’s any difference.

This. A bit better O3:O6 profile, and significantly cheaper.

Another horsetech user/fan, I used to feed this to my senior horse and was pleased with the results. Its flax and chia combined and while on the pricey side I found it worth it so I didn’t have to grind or combine on my own.
