Christmas Gifts for Vet/Farrier (or trainer)?

I’m at a private barn that has the main, I’m use the term caretaker, living on site. He does nearly 100% of all feeding/turnout/stalls etc amongst a lot of other general maintenance around the farm. Nice and knowledgeable guy.

Tractor supply gift card? Cash? Those were my thoughts…any input on how much?

For our horsey/barn friends. “Charlie” got them each a Posture Prep since he LOVED his. My trainers assistent sent an email out to all her clients to pool money for a bigger ticket gift which I’m totally good with. BO also gets a Posture Prep for her horses and will also get some baked goods.

I do my own trimming, but wanted to do some baked goods for my body worker. She’s vegan so I know she will be happy to get vegan friendly goodies. I also have aspirations to bring a goodie tray to the vet. They are a great clinic and I like to do what I can so they know we appreciate them and everything they do.

Last year I made cinnamon rolls and have already been texted by farrier and vet to see if I’m making them again.

You are correct, it doesn’t matter! I’ve received starbucks cards and just scan them into the mobile app. Consolidates the $$ and makes life easier, for me. One of my favourite apps to use, you can pre-order your drink, pay for it and just jump the line to pick up. Such a time saver on ‘you have to be in the office’ days.

As for gifts, totally agree on starbucks cards, good old fashioned cash in a card (perhaps with suggestion of ‘I thought you might like this for this restaurant, or I know you were saving toward X’), edibles (meat, cheese, cookies etc.). If they don’t like it, they can rehome.

To the large multi-vet practice the farm uses for shots and routine stuff, we sent Harry and David goodies for the office to share

I’m friends outside of work with my lameness vet and my farrier so they are getting quarter-zip fleeces with the farm logo, which is also what I’m doing for the 3 trainers who come in most often for lessons.

“the help” is dehumanizing, makes it sound like whoever is saying it thinks they are a higher class citizen and has strong racist connotations.
The employees is fine or their title- ie my barn manager, IRL just use their names

I did these for my farrier and vet/vet tech (it’s just those two in the practice) and they were a HIT! I definitely got myself a set too

But you know that chocolate and candy don’t make your teeth bad? It is your oral hygiene and genetics

i wish i could remember how much i gave my farrier last year. I’d HATE to give him less, and don’t want to seriously overdo either. I give the guy who delivers my hay cash too. I send cookies to the guys who repair our vehicles. Harry and David to the vet clinic is a GREAT idea and i’m going to be doing that! Thanks

Another one I used to hear a lot “My teeth were great until I had a baby. Babies suck all the calcium out of your teeth.”

It might be too late for this year, but I had a few farms give me Yeti coffee mugs with the farm logo on them. I still use them daily.

For farrier we usually chip in at the barn and the BO then gets 1 gift card. Its nice because we all chip in what we’re comfortable with no one knows who gave how much. For my vet practice - they really went above and beyond when my horse decided to get canker. Truly the devil - so ever since then I’ve sent them some sort of food tower type thing from Harry & David, Popcorn Factory etc. Moose Munch anyone? One of the doctor’s offices I worked at - at Christmas time our patients would bring food gifts and we were always very appreciative and thankful for our patients thoughtfulness.
