Climbing roses or vines on four board fencing

You’ve all convinced me this is a bad idea. Thank you for your wisdom

Whew … You don’t know the trouble we go to keep vegetation OFF our fences. Several of our horse friends let their fences go vegetative. Their fences failed prematurely as the growth destroyed the fence. The only way to repair, replace or change was a dozer to rip it all out.

Cannot deny it - love honeysuckle. We have it growing up a tree where we park - nothing more heavenly than the scent on a still June evening. I try to plant things that assist pollinators or humming birds, and can supply them with a long season of foraging.

Generally, tho, I look for spots to plant them where they will cause me the least work, so no, not on a pasture fence.

I do have an old cedar zig zag fence that is only decorative, not intended to hold livestock and it looks pretty with stuff climbing on it. Weed eat along the base, but not where the plant is rooted.

I have a Louis Phillipe and love it. Where will you get more? I rarely see it for sale. Mine is about 8 feet high…

Thank You!!!
