Clipping and blanketing when there's no ideal solution

Yes, very similar, I just left the shoulders furry. So more of a bib + girth clip.

Good grief look at how wooly she is! It looks like a 2" hair-ledge.

Actually I think one year I started with what you did and ended up having to add the shoulders. If you don’t mind being creative or clipping incrementally, you can find a good in-between solution, OP!

She looked utterly ridiculous for the entirety of winter. Tbh I’m leaning towards a full clip for that one and some sort of unlined rug. If I do it as soon as the coat comes through, it’s at least a couple months till it actually gets “cold”, by which time she’s usually ready for another clip anyway and so can reassess. She always gets a full clip at the end of winter too because I detest shedding

The young one got nearly hairy last year (our first winter together) and then took forever to shed out. I’ll probably go the trace for her as I’m more worried she’ll get cold, and she’s prone to dropping weight more easily.

I’ve done a similar clip but I taper the end almost like an Irish clip that doesn’t go all the way back to the flank. It’s a super useful clip when they live outside.
