Clipping faces and ears

The last time I clipped my mares whiskers years ago she exclaimed “You hurt my feelers” and started to cry. I knew then I was in the wrong and have ceased and desisted from this practice ever since.

Oh. I can’t say I have ever had that experience with the eleventy billion horses I’ve clipped whiskers on…

This is not helpful, lol, but I’m so glad that in dressageland, these things are not an issue. I dont clip my horse’s face, except maybe a few jowl hairs, a small bridle path thru the “pony” mane, and ear edges. Clip to where the head parts of the bridle go and quit. Fewer and fewer people are clipping whiskers.

For all the “DQ” stuff, we are way less fussy about perfect braids, etc. Clean and tidy is sufficient. Thank goodness, I mostly worry about manure stains…

In jumperland I don’t clip whiskers or anything in the summer, but when I bodyclip it looks ridiculous to try and blend ear/nose/eye fluff, so it comes off. I leave nose whiskers when I can but can’t always.
