Quarter the horse. You will be fine. You’ll need more than one heavy large square or full neck cooler. Place one heavy cooler on before bathing. Bath 1/4 of the horse at a time leaving as much as possible of the rest of the horse covered. Then cover that section and move on to the next 1/4 of your horse. Once all four sections are done, move back inside and use coolers as appropriate until the horse is dry.
Anyone remember those ‘bonnet’ hairdryers with a hose attached to a big shower cap thingy that you put over your hair in rollers? I saw the equine version of this at a trade show back a few years. Head and neck, legs and tail stuck out of this big zipped on puffy plastic equine body suit that was attached to a big blower. The exhibitor was quite hurt when I almost fell over laughing. I’ve never see one since but that would be ideal for cold weather baths!
