Collapsing trachea Updated with bad news

Jingles for not anytime soon![/QUOTE]

Amen to that. The Santa photo, very cute

She seems a bit better today which is a good thing I guess but that means that she is likely in heart failure to some extent since all we did so far was add lasix. I could probably crash this site with all the cute pics of my girl. She has to be one of the most photographed dogs ever.

Laurie I have a house full of chis and one pom-chi. Several of them honk from time to time but it rarely lasts more than 10 seconds and is not a daily thing. I wonder why this is so prevalent in toy breeds? Hope your baby continues ruling the farm for years.

Macy is doing really well! She is on diphenoxylate and lasix. She still has her moments but not as often as she was. Four years ago when my lab died she lost a lot of weight and I have been fighting to get it back on this whole time. She is a little sausage right now which makes me so happy!

Yay!

Seems to be in good voice!

I thought we were going to lose Macy last night. She had been doing extremely well since we adjusted the doses of her meds a few weeks ago but last night I could hear so much fluid in her lungs that she sounded like she was gargling when she breathed. I turned on the AC to reduce the humidity in the house and gave her an extra dose of lasix and waited. She was never in distress, just noisy otherwise I would have taken her to the ER to euth. Morning came and she is back to doing well. No noises anymore. I am going to call my vet in the morning and ask if they want to see her but for right now all is well.

Ugh. Poor kiddo! My dog seems to have developed LP. Similar recommendations about the exercise/excitement. Hard with a lab. I just took a short walk with him and he’s panting/honking away. Jingles for your pup!

I’m glad Macy was doing better this morning. I’ve got a Pom and they are just the cutest most personable little dogs.

Jingles for Macy!

Thanks everyone! She actually has another malady to add to the list although this one is just cosmetic. It causes her hair to clump together making it extremely painful to groom her. She basically looked like a porcupine! So now she is shaved and looks like a shorn llama. I think she looks adorable, but it is like having a different dog. She feels better too and has been jumping back up on the couch and bed.

So glad that Macey is doing better tonight

I’m glad she’s doing better. And if a cute, stylish haircut makes her more comfy, then she’ll just have to be a fashion icon too.

OMG she is so freakin’ cute!

Yay Macy! And I’m glad the diphenoxylate is helping!

It is Anne. We originally had her on half a pill twice per day and it didn’t seem to be making any difference so we added lasix. That helped somewhat but not much. We finally went to one pill twice per day and that made a big difference. I have given her the hydrocodone a few times too but not very often.

Is she on pimobendan? If not, something definitely to consider for the heart. Lasix alone won’t last long.

Thank you, I will ask the vet about that.

Macy is at the ER, it looks like it is the end of the road. I am 9 hours away so my daughters are having to handle this. It is my oldest daughter’s 23 birthday. They both had a good day today with a graduation party, a romp in the pool and a birthday dinner. Hopefully she makes it past midnight.
