Collateral Ligament Injury of Pastern joint

WE DID IT!!!

After a year of tears, heartache, and rehab my horse and I won three first place ribbons in Trail, Horsemanship, and Western Pleasure today! Even as I warmed my horse up today I was super emotional as it has been such a long year since his injury. I amazed at how far we have come. I hope this summer continues to go amazingly well for show season. I was even estatic to just compete at the show today let alone win. Just feels so good to prove to those people who thought my horse was done for or had no hope to kick butt the way we did!

That is fantastic… sounds like you need a new thread!!! This one has such an ominous title.

Just wanted to post an update on my horse that had his injury over a year ago. He has been doing fantastic and we did all kinds of horse shows this summer. I just found out we have won reserve all-around for the saddle club shows in my the state I currently live in and and Hi-point all around for the year out of state for the saddle club there. I want to thank you all for support and suggestions/advice for my horse and I:) I am just so happy that through love, hard work and determination I got my horse back and that means more to me than anything:)

Congrats, irishdcer … my girl has transitioned from stall rest to pasture rest now. Wish our outlook was as happy as yours has become!

Great update!!

Well done! Now…can you hold my hand through mine? :frowning: I am only at day 37… You have given me hope!

Thanks:) It can be hard for sure. I think PRP, strictly following the rehab program, and good farrier work helped tremondously. There can be light at the end of the tunnel:)

Great update!

Irishdncer thanks for the thread and update. I have been struggling for a year with my horses LCL injury. He shows promise and the is lame again . It’s one step forward and three back for me. You mention CSU in your thread, are you going to Colorado State? I have seen them and they said I had to have MRI bc couldn’t visualize LCL good enough on US and I keep reading on posts how everyone is using US? I also struggle with the strict stall rest versus a run. He gets crazy on rest and my fear was he would hurt himself worse so I have had him in a run (36’) so he could have movement. The footing is great- no mud and not slippery or deep. I am not ready to give up. If money was tight would everyone recommend PRP or shockwave?
