Colored feed pans

I see two options:

  • make labels and label all the pans - put a large piece of tape over the labels so no water etc gets in, then the labels last a long time

  • try to color code - all of mine have a different color so it makes things a lot easier

We used these to feed when I worked in NZ (and as water buckets at shows), and they were awesome. Super easy to carry. Not the small pans, but the medium or large sized ones. They are my all time favorite buckets for everything, and especially for carrying water.[/QUOTE]

See my post (#5) which also included the link. We used the medium ones to feed and the large to water. They never close as they are rigid in shape but still fleixble. They are easy for the horse to eat out of as the opening is wide. Check out the dimensions. Also indestructible like cutter99 said.

I color code everything in my barn. That way, if someone feeds for me or borrows a horse, they know what equipment, feed bucket, etc. belongs to which horse.

Each stall name plate is colored, so the name for the horse is in the color that 'belongs" to that horse. In the same fashion, bridle hooks, halters, saddle covers, feed buckets, water buckets, etc. are color coded for the individual horse. When in doubt, simply check the color of the name plate - and that color “belongs” to that horse.

Same thing in my barn. My farmsitter wishes everyone did it!
