Coming up with "barn colors"... Any suggestions?
I’ve always liked Black and Red, but its hard to find black blankets with scarlet trim.
My future barn colors will be black with red as the main accent and white as the third. Looks really sharp! And it’s my high school colors. Black is easy to find and looks good on everything. The red/white makes it different. But just a smidge of red/white-- mostly black.

a friend of mine has turquoise as an accent color and she has a heck of a time matching her things - there are too many color variations - I agree w/ the other post to watch out about some colors since they can be hard to match. I like the dark w/ light colors - navy w/ baby blue, black w/ baby blue, green and purple look good too.

My barn is tiny so we don’t all match but the colors I use for my horse are navy, red, tan/gold (tan if it’s an accent/gold if it’s embroidery). Not too imaginative, I know, but it looks really slick on my dark purply bay. He also looks gorgeous in pink, but I save that for the occasional at home accent, with the pink replacing the red. I picked it because it looks classy and great and is easy to find - plus I can pretend we’re Olympians. the only thing I haven’t been able to get in those colors are the blanket/sheet as the ones that fit him best don’t come in a pretty navy, so I just bought my favorite option. His cooler is navy with red and gold accents though

To heck with originality unless you have a huge pocket book.

My colors are Navy blue, burgundy and white. Those have been my colors for 30 years. Thankfully, I’ve been in barns where I at least blend (and that don’t require matching anything). I like this combination because:
• They are classy
  • They are easy to find in stock items (I can pretty much find anything I want in these colors)
  • I can change the base from navy to burgundy depending on why I'm buying and what horse it is going on (the chestnuts get navy bases because burgundy would look terrible)
Even with this pretty basic color scheme, it can be hard to find stock items with white trim. It is most often gray. M’eh, I’m not picky. White turns gray in a few months anyway.

Have fun, but be realistic with what you want out of having colors. Do two main colors with an accent and you’re pretty much good to go.

  • My colors were always navy with hunter/kelly green trim - very easy to find and doesn’t show dirt too much.

However I do have a wool dress sheet that is gray with navy trim and baby blue piping. It’s beautiful and if I could start over I think I’d go with those colors. It’s especially striking on a gray horse.

What up with all you guys doing green, black and purple?
It blends in with;) the bruise you get when you fall off at that big oxer.

Actually, I think it’s a pretty nice combo! I like the idea of turquoise with purple, too.

Hi - I work for Equitex the leader in custom stall drapes and blankets. The best advice that I can give you is to pick colors that you can see yourself being happy with for a long time. Choosing a lighter earth tone color as your base color will help you to hide the dirt and then you can bring in other darker colors as accents. If you choose to go with sunbrella drapes, there are over 60 colors to choose from. You should contact the company you are planning to work with and have them send you a color card so you can see all of the different colors that are available to you. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

My barn colors are black & red with grey & white accents. Life is simple. I almost never have to go custom (and my core curtains are actually blackout curtains from walmart, so all I had to buy was the banners)

One of my favorite combos is black, grey and royal blue.

Here’s the basic look, I’d pipe it with grey instead of the white.

Here’s a hat in the colors I like.

deep Burgundy, baby blue, and cream

Our colors are navy, baby blue, and steel grey. I love the look of navy and burgandy too.

I always wanted black with red and tan trim as my colors. But I ended up with navy, red, and white just out of convenience. Having said that, I absolutely love navy, powder blue, and white as barn colors - very classy.

So I am in need of picking my “colors” … Anyone have any good suggestions as to what they like/would want to do? Wanted something different originally but just throw out ideas!

    Thanks!
Well, depending on what you want/need, if you decide on navy, burgundy with a touch of light blue, I know someone who might be interested in selling the very well made set he had (he’s retired). I can’t recall exactly what pieces he has, but the tack stall drapes & valance, and ??? If you’re interested, I can find out.

(hope monitor doesn’t feel this is a sale ad - it’s not intended as such)
