Neat idea, Bluey, and would probably give us a better - safer - surface, but it wouldn’t survive our winters (-35’C at times).

We use our trailers at -10F and it survived fine.
Not as cold as you say, but close enough to say it probably will be fine.
We have 110F summers and it still worked well, just add more sand here and there.
Easy to apply another coat if the first one wears off.
You could try mopping a bit in a corner, add sand to it and see how it works.
Simplest would be just put some plain dirt over it, a few inches, enough to make it solid.
We had an old barn and granary pad, about 30’ x’40’ in one pen the horses ran in and never had a problem, but never say never.
I have no idea how expensive this stuff is Duraroc rubber surfacing. But, I saw the “Holmes Makes It Right” episode where he used it over concrete in the aisles and wash stall of a horse barn. It is also used around swimming pools, so must be OK outdoors.
The expensive thing would be rubber pavers on top. http://www.rubberflooringinc.com/interlocking-tile/rubber-pavers.html
If you wanted to spend even more you could put heating under them.
