My silliness?

Time to start a cow-jumping thread, eh?

On the video of the Hereford jumping the tires-and-pole in hand- she ( I think it’s a heifer, hard to see) had lovely tight knees and a reasonable bascule- for a cattle beast, anyway! Love her!

@LilyandBaron

It is about mid April. When are you planning on trying the horses??

So I saw the little one in his paddock and he’s adorable, but I rode 3 others better suited to my wish list AND adopted a wonderful 16hh, 8 year old OTTB by Twirling Candy:). He’s as plain as a plain bay can get, and I LOFF him. He was much fancier in person than his pics suggested, so for sure, don’t judge off one photo:).

Open to inputs on this guy if helpful in terms of working ahead, but he’s just a class act and I’m thrilled to see what we can do!

He’s lovely! My bestest horse ever was a plain bay OTTB.

Forgive me, but if his bday is 3/23/14, wouldn’t that make him recently turned 8? Not that it matters, of course.

Lol, yep - I didn’t do math, just recalled original ad:)

Terrific! Wishing you and Mr. Plain Bay many happy years together.

Congrats!!!

Ummm. you don’t understand how nice a bay is until you’ve owned 2 brown/blacks. Talk about a boring color.

Videos!

Working forward, he seems like he has a nascent topline that could become rather strong with correct training. His neck doesn’t tie in great above but it does below. His back looks inches a bit long in the loin but if he uses himself, that won’t matter. It’s hard to tell but his feet angles look good. He might be a bit splayed behind but it’s difficult to tell and that might not matter a bit.

Videos!

I’m so glad you went and rode them and I’m confident you picked the right one after interacting with them in person and riding them.

Congratulations!!! Here’s to your years of increasing partnership and fun!

Congrats on your new horse!

Just judging by the picture I see a lot more Broken Vow in him than Twirling Candy. We’ve had 3 Broken Vows and all 3 were nice solid, hard working horses with great temperaments.

Here’s a snippet from the trial ride - he’s only had a handful of rides, but was let down in turnout before he got to the rescue, so not edgy/fit. He felt wonderful - just a classy guy. I really thought I’d hold out for chrome, but the old adage of no bad color/good horse held true:)

What a lovely fella! My TB (who looks like he was built by committee over Zoom) moves a lot like him and does very well in dressage. I don’t jump him because he was too Type A to jump well, but he is awesome out and about as well as in the show arena. You’ll have so much fun with your new guy, I’m sure

So glad you found a horse ! Shows you how important it is to ride them if you can. While most of us like some color , personality and suitability is so much more desirable in the end.

We look forward to more pictures and updates.

When does he come home??

Got my good egg home on Easter:). He’s taking it all in and so far, no issues, other than crazy weather!!! Snowed today! Ugh! Thankfully I had a blanket his size already.
