Confused about Charlestown Jockey Switch

The pool totals do not lie.
You are entitled to your opinion but my opinion is you are so wrong its not even funny. I have had my own personal horses returned to the paddock for a change of equipment. You think I would have let the track make something like that up so they could make a few more dollars? Would they make more money or less money if there were three hours between races? Then everyone could bet right? It doesn’t work that way.
Here is a sureway to find out: Check the pool totals from them moment your horse is announced as returning to the paddock for change of equipment. And then check the final pool totals. What do you see?
Yes, there IS more money poured into the betting of the race. And that precious 5-10 minutes means $$$.
Do you not think Charlestown or Penn Gaming is interested in more betting revenue? Come on…Some of these returning to the paddock like your horse might be needing a legitimate change…but then there are those side transactions with track management that you couldn’t even fathom…please don’t think it’s just you…

You need to get out more.
I’ll see you at the track…
Penn Gaming Inc. cares about the handle? That’s news to me.
Haven’t you seen the wonderful dining accommodations at Penn National? come on…
I rode races and trained horses… I’m really curious as to who you think gives the jockey the orders to return to the paddock (totally serious question here, please enlighten me)!
Please, try not to feign ignorance and believe that all racetrack management have good-hearted intentions and do not conspire with jockey/outrider/gate crew ahead of time. Please don’t be THAT naive…

“Side transactions”??? Seriously???

Admit it, your a disgruntled fan and probably have more losing tickets than you care to share… added to that, you have zero knowledge of how things “really” work.

Wrong about that one too. I usually cash the wagers that I rarely make…

But perhaps we should all agree with you, that thoroughbred racing is a 100% honest sport, whose race results have absolutely no interference/influence from track management and stewards alike…

Is there where you go on tell me about unicorns and the tooth fairy as well?

Get real…

Okay, maybe not a disgruntled fan, but a clueless one.

What you are talking about would not be dishonesty, it would just be a waste of time. This isn’t the Kentucky Derby with throes of fans waiting in line to bet. Its freaking Charles Town. They could delay the race a week and maybe take in an extra $10

Funny visual Laurie, horses circling behind the gate for days… or the “special” meeting between gatecrew/stewards/track management and jocks… a little huddle maybe, with “special” instructions as to who’s turn it will be in the 5th race to return to the paddock!

Don’t they have a big stakes filled day at CT coming up that’s going to be televised even on HRTV? (omg, no way!)

Perhaps a wee bit more than $10…

How often do you hear about someone getting shut out at the windows at CT? I think they assign a teller to each of the betting patrons as soon as you walk in the place. Sometimes they follow you out to your car if you try to leave before the card is over. For the uninitiated, the above was a joke, all except the first sentecnce.

ONE DAY. And I bet you that $10 that there isn’t a single horse returned to the paddock to delay the start of the race.

NOW you got the idea…

You could crawl on your belly from the paddock to the window and still make it with time to spare. Seriously. I don’t get this arguement.

Wouldn’t want to tip anyone off now would they…

I think some gamblers would crawl to the windows if they couldn’t walk:lol:

Do you not understand that people all over the country play this track through simulcasting, and that what you see at the windows does not reflect what occurs at simulcasting facilities and online wagering platforms on all coasts?

It is common knowledge that track attendance at CT needs a boost…but how about total simulcast wagering from all sources?

Nice…and what’s with the 'Mousse bandwagon here? Do you think he’s got a legitimate shot to sweep the Crown?..

Yes I understand that people bet simulcasts. Do you really believe that all those people are at places that are so overpopulated with bettors wanting to bet CT that they are getting shut out at the windows? Or at their computers? Come on, think a little will you. This is Charles Town we are talking about.
