Confused about Charlestown Jockey Switch
Less than 10% of Charles Town’s purses comes from the handle. If they waited 10 minutes each race they’d probably net another $100 toward purses a night…having the lights on for an extra 15 minutes a night probably offsets any potential last minute wagers they may receive when this situation occurs.
You got some solid figures to back that up?

They call it the Charles Town Races & Slots…
Hallelujah ! You finally said at least one correct thing !

But the ONLY reason for this, EVER, according to you, is getting more people to the betting windows.

Have you ever ridden a horse? Experienced equipment breakage or felt a saddle slipping dangerously underneath you? Felt something was off even though there’s nothing apparently wrong? Not “clicked” with a horse in a bad way, or had one severely shake your nerves?

I guess I don’t get how the “only” reason for a jockey or equipment change would have to do with greedy track management.

As with anything, there are always multitudes of possibilities and context.

Unless you’re involved personally with the specific incident, of course.

They do this all the time already…don’t you pay attention to the 0 minutes to post, yet they haven’t even reached the gate yet? And then the jockeys dismount and “we’re going to have a short delay” announcement? Come on…the equipment/jockey switch is just an added bonus…do the math…
I do believe some smaller and mid-level tracks will milk the MTP when they are having a big day of racing or a stakes race - but your premise that Charles Town has rider switches or equipment changes in order to increase handle is just stupid. Penn Gaming DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HANDLE. Their name is Penn Gaming because they are a slot machine company first and horses are only their golden key to get the damn machines.

Please avoid the personal commentary & insults all around and refocus on the OP’s question, if anyone has anything else to add on that front.

Otherwise, be advised of the potential utility of the “Ignore” feature available in your User CPs.

Thanks,
Mod 1

I was watching Charles Town last night, and there was a jockey switch while the horses were in the post parade! Is this common at the smaller tracks? Why would there be a jockey change in the middle of the post parade? I know I ask a lot of questions, but thanks for being patient with me and answering them. I really appreciate it.:)
Of course we have those legitimate reasons to return a horse to the paddock or change the jock…but please do not think that 100% of those returns are all legitimate…are we THAT naive? come on folks…it’s called horse racing…

And it must also be pointed out that the premise that ALL rider switches or equipment changes are 100% legitimate and truthful…

Maybe the morning laxative took effect at a really bad time? (just getting back to the OP…)

OMG Caff I just snorted water out my nose!!:yes::lol:

I have seen very short warmups due to weather day after day, when there are rarely any fans in the grandstand (not counting simulcast of course)… please explain these, as this is when they really could use the extra minutes…
