Connemara Pony Lines

I am totally impressed with Fiontar Mac Tire as a dressage pony. He is very expressive, and looks like a fine character. I appreciate the owner putting him out there with videos showing his improvement over just a short time. I really hope they keep it up. That being said, I saw one video of Kynynmont Cooper O’Grady, and he looked quite nice too. But despite his super scores all the way up the levels, there are no videos out there that I can find. It would be great to see!

Hi Everyone

Thank you so much for your replies!! So much information to wade through, but this makes me so excited. It has been really hard (this year in particular) to see all my horsey friends post their adorable foal pictures, so I am really excited about my client breeding this mare. I miss foals SO MUCH!

I plan on breeding Connemara crosses in the future so all this information is very informative for me as well. I have a Connemara/QH cross that is just amazing. The sire is the Connemara (Seaborne Schooner) and he has passed amazing jumping talent.

Thank you again!

this is from 2012: Kynynmont Cooper OGrady
and this is ArdCeltic Art competing at 4th

Both ponies show greater elasticity than is typical for the breed. Not the typical quick short pony striding.

My colt has half siblings by both Gunsmoke and Art. I actually prefer the Art daughter for both Jumping and Dressage as well as temperament/rideablity. However the Gunsmoke daughter is competing in the Pony Grand Prix’s in France.

Thanks! That is the video I had seen of Cooper O’Grady, but I would love to see his upper level stuff. I would agree that he is a little atypical for the breed, but with new bloodlines, and as the breed grows, I am seeing them just get better and better. I only do dressage, so maybe one day I will find a connemara that suits my fancy!

Thank you so much Geniusiwas for your lovely comments about Finn! It took 6 years to find a colt that had everything I wanted… bloodlines, movement, conformation and temperament. He is proving to be a lovely lad who I hope will continue to get better and better. I’ve been VERY happy with him so far and yes, I absolutely will be continuing to post his progress through video and pictures. As a MO myself, I would find it very useful to follow a stallions progression through his education so I can see what his trainability etc. is like. Finn is still only 4 and in the very beginnings of his career… so I am very excited for him!

(I pretty much only do dressage myself these days… so a very good moving pony was pretty paramount for me)

there is actually 3 sons of Gunsmoke standing in the US and as far as Im aware there is frozen available from Gunsmoke himself—there may be more Stallion Sons for all I know.
