For those of you in the Houston area that might be interested, we are holding an intro to Working Equitation clinic here at Sonesta Farms on Sunday, October 23, 2016. Auditors welcome. Bring your own chair. More at www.facebook.com/sonestafarms
Clinician is Michael Vermaas, WE judge.

We are having Micheal also, November 11-13.

We are also hosting Antonio Garcia Roldan October 21-23 for Dressage and WE.

WE is really for all breeds!

Depending on what state you live in, there may be an established chapter of one of the existing organizations - for instance, here in Washington state, we have an active chapter of WE United and work closely with WE United Oregon to provide clinics, schooling and recognized shows. Best way to start is to check out Facebook by typing “Working Equitation, (State name)”. We post events, newsletters, fun videos. As a die hard dressage rider, I can honestly say that Working Eq is great for my show pony’s mind and challenging and fun for me! In our region, you’ll find Lusitanos, PREs, quarter horses, Arabs, Mustangs , Halflingers and even a blind horse- Endo the Blind -all competing.

I’ll share a video of a local WEIUSA practice show aobut 1.5 years ago. It’s me and my then 20 year old ex-backcountry trail horse, a Spanish Barb. It was his first WE show, and as far as I know, his first show ever.

This is the speed phase at Novice level, though these are likely changing a little with the move to WE United. We had a blast, and he placed 2nd overall. While we did canter between most of the obstacles (Beau’s canter is nicer to ride than his trot), quite a few folks trotted the whole thing.

Great job! How did you remember all the obstacles? Do you have to take them in a certain order?

The obstacles are numbered, like for show jumping.

I’m seriously intrigued by this sport, and planning on getting involved, so ty for this thread. I’m 62 this week, been eventing for many years, and thinking of something different to do

Yes, it’s like remembering a jump course. And they are numbered and flagged like stadium, red on right.

Well, if anyone in/near Frederick MD would like to try and get a club started, I have access to facilities I can rent for very reasonable prices! I tried to put on a clinic last year and it bombed terribly.

Bumping this thread up because I just saw that there’s a WE “play day” on July 15th in Nokesville, VA. It’s only $20! I think I will try to take my new pony. Anyone else want to go?
