It’s in El Cardonal, Mexico… my aunt has this painting and won’t give it up!
I had someone paint several of my hunt photos. She asked permission and sent me a print. I was very flattered.
That’s a great idea. I may contact you someday for a hunt photo! I am trying to scrape a living with some paintings since I was laid off work… have to do something…
The main reason for the fox photo was to get fur technique perfected. I am doing a course in wildlife painting… fur techniques etc… and it was a perfect subject…

AAAaahhhh just ignore Wanabe…he can be grumpy & ask pain in the neck questions sometimes. :sigh: He means well I suspect. He’s learning about hunting. Research his entries and you’ll see. There are TONS of great fox pics around and I’m very glad you shared this one with us. Loved it. The color of the moss or lichens is the same as this nice healthy large fox. Hey does anyone else think those Canadian foxes look big? Does to me. I have a pic of one from Canada on the wall in my hallway and he looks “substantial” like your pic. Some of ours in Virginny look kinda weedy comparably imho. I love his direct into the camera look. I’ve started feeding one near my farm that likes to sit on the hill and watch my chickens! :eek: It’s just plain awesome. Thanks for sharing and just “leave it” on the color commentary. The vast majority of us are glad you shared and are here.

It wasn’t you wanabe… I know that. I’m over it. I thought it was kind of crappy of the other poster… she’s a professional artist and it was kind of a cheap shot IMHO. I am just getting started as a professional artist and still have a way to go… and I am not a pro photographer… just an artist.

Be that as it may, it was not ‘crappy’, it was a good, fair warning. Nothing more.
A warning for what? I just shared the photo nothing more. The rest was unsolicited snarkiness. I asked for permission, so that’s not the issue.
The rest of the commentary is what I am talking about.
I just have to share my fox photos:) They were taken last spring at my parents place in Northern Ontario. This guy was uber friendly for the whole summer. She even started “trading” her food for hot dogs. Note the nice fat squirrel she brought us:lol: She actually left it among other goodies all summer. Enjoy:cool:

Well, actually, before you edited your first post it stated that you were doing a painting from the fox photo and you wondered where it was taken. Then later, you said you had received permission to paint from it, and you found out it was taken in Manitoba.
If you want to use photos from others without permission, paint from them and sell them, go ahead. I thought it was a fair warning from tm, be you artist or photographer. That’s all.
I said I was using it as reference yes… not that I was copying it. I also said I did ask permission.
I posted this thread to share a photo not to discuss my painting.
