True, “anything” is an exaggeration, but my point is that human food companies have some serious issues in their processing and people do get sick (and die) and how many people boycott them? But once our dogs or cats are involved, the stakes are raised.
Just the same that my horses, dog, and cat get a better balanced diet than I do on a daily basis.
Just trying to get other people’s perspectives and insight on how they choose their personal food versus their animals’. Yes, animals can’t choose their own diet, but if our dog had his way, he’d just eat trash out of garbage every day anyway.
I do think some of the local companies we test have better protocols in place with fewer “positives”, better environmental swabbings, etc. I think it has to do more with the attitude of the company and how important quality is versus the overall profit margin and quantity. But, that’s my opinion (and I’m a peon in the whole scheme of things, so it’s not even worth $.02 )
Back to the original topic at hand, I did have the dog on the Kirkland food when I was a really, really broke student a few years ago and he did OK, but was still a little itchy and uncomfortable. He is currently on Fromm, but the Kirkland was far superior on my pocketbook at that point and time.
