Sorry for your loss

She was an amazing person and her passing has left many of us feeling shocked and saddened. The saddle fitting community is small and she will be greatly missed by so many of us.

Shocked and saddened is right. I know you and she worked together at times, helping each other out with saddles. Such a kind, lovely woman.

I’m really happy that my last conversation with her was so positive! She called just to catch up and share that things were looking up with her long covid. It was great to hear her being so positive.

I am also so sorry to hear this. I appreciated her posts and knowledge about Harry Dabbs and her perspectives as a saddle fitter. She will be missed.

I just heard this terrible news this morning and very sad too. I’d run into her at Kroger in the past couple weeks and she did need the assistance of the mobile scooter and said she was very tired. As always, she had that beautiful smile and great spirit.

It’s hard to even type this without getting emotional. She said she’d finally gotten enough broken saddles and was ready for our plan for an educational session taking them apart.

I’d been fortunate enough to attend an educational event just a year ago where she brought in two outstanding fitters and a group of us enjoyed a day of learning and then with 5 horses putting on a handful of saddles each and talking in groups about why they did or did not fit. And going through the process of hands on determining in each case.

Amanda was top class, so passionate about all things horses and had just gotten a stunning young horse and was so excited and happy. Whenever she was with you she was so in the moment and helpful and kind.

I’d just read this news this morning and thought of her. Damn long COVID.

“A study published in JAMA this month found that nearly 7% of the US population (or roughly 18 million people) have had long Covid. Symptoms of the condition vary widely, but often include fatigue, brain fog, and post-exertional malaise (meaning symptoms worsen after minimal exertion), according to the CDC. Booster shots may help protect against long Covid, the JAMA study suggests.”

I am so sorry to hear about the lost of your friend, a member of our CoTH community/family here, and in the equestrian community as a whole.

I hope your heart heals quickly and you can look back on the 6 yrs you had her as a friend and look back fondly.
