Anyone else have mares with this issue? I spoke to my vet and she said not to worry as long as it wasn’t full blown diarrhea. Did a search but found no threads on this-
I find spring grass leads to cow poops for all. My pregnant mares don’t usually do the cow poop thing (barring a new grass situation) until just before delivery.
Sunnydays, my experience has been the same - smaller, looser, and more frequent droppings the last week or so before foaling. Just now, all of ours, including the youngsters, have looser droppings from grazing the new growth.
Well, in our case it’s not the spring grass. She is not out on grass. Hoping she is close to delivery as she is HUGE. But not due technically for another 3 weeks.
I think HUGE is the reason the droppings become more frequent and smaller and looser! It all sounds wonderfully normal to me! Good luck to her and to you!
