Gumtree, I find this interesting. Most of the mares I have known have foals who cribbed. Perhaps because the foal was under the same stresses that cause the dam to crib.
Yep!!! I really wouldn’t want more than 5ish acres. Lots and lots of work! We live up in Montana (snow!!). When I first started boarded he was in a fenced area of 3ish or so acres with 6 other horses and there was enough room for me to ride in it etc. The whole plot of boarding area is 30 acres and omg so much work!! Between fencing, always mowing stuff, manure etc. I just want 2-4 horses I already have 2 :yes:
My mom runs a smaller boarding place in CA thats one 3 acres and that in itself is a lot of work! Its set up well, very large pipe pens, not the cheapie pipe pens with sheds in each paddock, and a larger 4 stall horse barn with runs. The stall my baby is in right now is 12x24 with a run. Anyways she’s always fixing something there + manure removal
