Crosby saddles - model comparisons

It’s been a loooooong time, but IIRC the Sovereign is the same build as the PDN-- the Sov has the upgraded leather but is otherwise the same saddle. So look for PDNs. And as others have said, they are dime a dozen. Try search tempest and check the CLs.

This Sovereign looks pretty good to me, any comments/warnings, and to me the price seems to make sense with the condition shown? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151205748985&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

OP - If you post on the EMG bulletin boards with a “LF Crosby” post, you might get a bunch of replies. Lots of people have these sitting around in their barns. Might be worth a shot - you might find someone in the Ottawa area with one.

It looks to be in good shape…I would make a lowball offer and see what happens. I notice that no one bid on the other Sovereign that was supposed to start at $200.

That’s my thinking too. Unless you MUST HAVE IT and can’t bear losing it… I’d start low and see what happens.

Alright! I’m in! I’ve never bargained on ebay, and the seller is offering to pay half of the shipping - 35$ from Fl to Canada sounds reasonable to me?

Green means it actually got a bid. Red means it didn’t. Look at similar sizes, ignore padded flap saddles… that shows you roughly what the market will bear for that saddle. Bargain accordingly.

Nevermind me, I used google instead of asking you guys how the “make an offer” button thingy works…

Good luck!

Hum, so I totally bought it, made a lowball offer, she counteroffered at like 9$ less than the asking price but gave me the 50% off shipping. I feel like I probably went too quick (afraid not to find another saddle, like there aren’t Crosbys falling from the sky for ridiculous prices right now), but after she sent me more pictures the saddle looked to be in excellent condition, so… Yeah I’m trying to justify myself for jumping the gun here. Can’t wait to see the girl’s faces at the barn when I come in with a saddle older than them!

If customs are nice, I should get it by the end of the month - so excited!!!

Congrats! :encouragement:

If you got it and you’re happy and it works… I wouldn’t sweat what you could have dickered over

Well… I’ll really get it in person some time at the end of the month, so we’ll see how happy I am then, but in my fairytale imagination, yes, I am very happy:lol:

Oh! Another question - I’m pretty short (5’1) and stirrup leathers are included BUT in case I need to get a shorter set, I was thinking of ordering from Gary Mundy, because his stuff seems awesome and hes sounds like a lovely man! I’m thinking maybe chestnut would be the color closest to the saddle I bought?

Ask Gary–order the leathers after you get your saddle and can take pictures.

Probably the best plan.

Your bumping of every old thread on saddles to pimp the one you have for sale is neither cute nor allowed under forum rules.
