It falls under “puffery” which is considered pretty standard and inoffensive in a sales context. Nobody would view that kind of statement as a guarantee or enforceable promise. It’s like calling a car “hottest new sedan on the market” or a house “an entertainers dream.” I’m sort of shocked that anyone finds this at all unusual or unacceptable in a world where every horse ad proclaims it to be a “unicorn” and a “winner.” I couldn’t find a PURELY
OBJECTIVE horse ad if you paid me to.
To add on… I’ve never once seen an ad from this farm with the words “I promise this is the next winner!” No one can even promise the horse won’t do something stupid and become unrideable a week after you get it home. There are no promises in horse sales.
Yes it was an import. Sold by picturesque to current owners in November 2021. Under saddle winner at Pony Finals 2022. What’s your point? I never said it was one of her homebreds.
And non horse parents should beware of every horse sale, and get knowledgeable professional help.

Sounds like I’m in the minority here but I have a real problem with this wording
Sounds like you’re going to have a real problem with the wording that comes from a lot of sale barns. Scroll through any Facebook sale group and you’re going to find similar wording all over the place.
Are you just seeing horse sale ads for the first time? There is nothing out of the ordinary about that ad. It seems like you have some sort of issue with the seller and you’re looking for excuses to throw stones.
Yep, you’re definitely in the minority here. You’d have problems with a lot of my ads too.
I’ve not had any personal experience with her but have friends that do. She’s been straight forward and honest with all of them, and they’d all happily buy another from her. She gets some really lovely horses in and has a great reputation.
Considering every single ad I look at from just about every horse seller has the one that “jumps a 10!” and is the “hack winner!” I don’t find the superlatives offensive and I judge what I see not what the seller wants me to imagine.
I personally think the pony is adorable from the video I just watched and with a good pilot could do well at PF. the small greens can be kind of….scary…lol and there’s only ever like, 20 of them. But, never seen it in person. I have no qualms with this advertising. Everyone advertises their horse or pony as a winner if it’s nice. The greens, especially, since they’re basically unproven at the rated pony division.
I know a few people who have gotten horses from Kristy. All happy. All lovely animals.
At least this one has won hacks. I can’t tell you how many times I see “hack winner” and I pull the record and it’s always been dead last. As the owner of a great mover who can ruin her chances with snarky behavior and breaking… I know there’s a difference between the best mover and the winner sometimes. Looking at this pony’s record, it matches what I’d expect for the ad. I don’t think this is even that much puffery.
I’ve seen much greater mismatches. I just saw one where the ad said “never stops” and the linked videos showed the horse stopping at a show. Or “10+ mover” for a lame hackney type mover. This is a cute little pony that has started showing and doing well and I don’t see any reason to doubt the right kid could take it to pony finals and do well.
My fave was a horse I saw advertised as “never stops” (NOT one of Kristy’s, to be clear) whose videos weren’t even of a continuous show round—clips of random lines and singles with slick cross-dissolve transitions. I happened to be at that show, and the horse didn’t make it around a single trip.
I won’t go look at one advertised as jumping courses that doesn’t show a full course. I don’t care if the video is at home (especially a green horse) but I want to see it jump a whole course including the CORNERS. If it’s so green it literally just does singles I want to see the approach and the landing through the corner. Doesn’t need to be in a fancy ring or fancy jumps… I just want to see how it GOES AROUND. That means more than just the moment it’s in the air.
Those are pretty standard sales descriptions for horses /ponies that have successful show records. Or if there’s no show record, it’s pretty easy to think a horse that’s a darn good mover will be a hack winner, same with jumping form.
Horse consignors with good reputations develop a network where buyers/trainers contact them tell them what they’re looking for and when it shows up 1 phone call and the deal is done. A friend in Ireland often would get calls saying " I need another horse just like Rocky" and in short order another “rocky” was on his way to the USA. Often sight unseen.
They said it doesn’t stop, not that it doesn’t buck you off at the end of the ring or that it changes leads. Honesty!
