Crud on hind legs..

Yes, the skin lotion for cannon crud. They also make a zinc oxide paste that is amazing for scratches. Their wound ointment is good too. I am a big Equiderma fan.

I’ve learned a lot about skin crud over the years from our knowledgeable posters. This really resonated with me:

Yes!! That’s exactly what I’m referring to… Like I said in my first post, I’ve been slacking off on the grooming, so this gunk is building up.

BAD OWNER!!

Malaseb was my go to for 20 plus years. You’ll wonder why you did all that soap, soak. Equiderma lotion is a game changer.

That should work. Coconut oil, vegetable oil. Anything skin safe. I usually grab MTG because I have a bottle handy in the barn. Those crusts are dried oil and skin cells. Similar to cradle cap on a baby. Just slather something oily on and it will soften them up so they can be easily curried and washed away a few hours later.

Love this stuff. This is what I use.

ETA, yes, the skin lotion. It’s light blue.

I use Muck-itch. Works like a charm.

I have had success with a generic 1% coal-tar shampoo or the name brand Neutrogena T-gel.

Just dealt with this on two mares yesterday. I used human T-Gel shampoo with great success. It stinks like tar, but it works. I lathered it up, lightly brushed, and rinsed well. Didn’t lose hair like I would usually when I would go over-board currying. Equate brand at WM is $4.

(BTW- long time lurker and finally decided to post, lol.)

It is often fungal, use an anti-fungal. I have my own brew and it seems to work.

Cannon keratosis is not fungal.
