Thanks, and I will keep watching for your updates as she goes along.
Vet came out and checked big Momma today, all is fine. Good heartbeat, rectal palpation was fine. Most likely was just re-positioning the foal last week.
Now we wait…
yeaaaa
Thanks for the update
Hope she doesn’t make you wait much longer!
…STILL waiting…:sigh:
Phew… on the update… not on the waiting…
Anything new?
I say: No News Is Good News. Hope I am correct.
No news is BORING news!!! <stillllllllll waiting…> Day 347 today.
But…BORING news is better than no news or bad news. Think positive. LOL
Stillllllllllllllll waiting…out of test strips, and debating whether to bother ordering some. She’s day 351 today, but showing no signs of impending foaling. All is good, full udder, enormous, stretched vulva, etc. but no behavioral changes or belly biting still aside from that one false labor day 336.
I’ve been home for 2 1/2 weeks with mono, and have I had the SLIGHTEST bit of exciting foal entertainment?? Nope. I’m assuming when I go back to work on Monday she’ll immediately foal, and I of course, will have no sick days left to be able to come back. Sigh.
Fingers crossed for foaling this weekend!!!
I feel your pain! Mine went 382 this year and finally had a big strapping colt
Safe foaling jingles coming your way.
Last year, I spent 3 weeks of sleepless nights checking the cam every hour for my good mare who was putting on a real show and FINALLY it happened! Her daughter, the maiden, foaled the night I got the foaling stall strawed giving clear signals and with rapid labor producing a healthy, smart little foal! Go figure…
Go figure, Diane!
Blackstallion, that is INSANE!!! 382 days?! I can’t wait that long!!! Don’t let my mare get wind of that!!
The poor thing is exhausted; she’s so big it’s really hard for her to get back up when she lays down, so she hasn’t laid down since day the false labor on day 336 (today’s 352), and before that not for 2 weeks prior. She falls asleep with her head down standing up at night, she’ll start to sway a bit and her poor little legs wobble and she awakes again with a start.
She starts to think about laying down in the paddock, goes to the sand, knees bend to try and then she gives a big “UGHHHHHHHH” groan and straightens back up again. Poor little (BIG!) girl!!
She did the same last year, and FINALLY once she foaled she later laid down and napped…only to have rambunctious high energy colt leap on her and bite her ears. The things mothers have to go through!!
Come soon, little foal! Come soon!!!
Update tonight: completely engorged teats with wet white milk droplets. She does seem fuller through the gaskin/hip/hindquarter area. Fingers crossed!!
Good update. Is she on Marestare or any cam we can see?
If not, happy wishes for a safe foaling . I will watch for more news.
Unfortunately, no marestare this year. We had it up for a few weeks, but our property is undergoing construction and as a result our internet has been off/on inconsistently, so no marestare. We still have our 3 cams set up, so I’m able to watch her on our TV at night, though, which is good.
Day 353…still waiting…but pH dropped over night, milk is turning more white, and calcium content is higher. Fingers crossed!
I’ll try to post some pics for fun when I get a chance (if our internet stays working!!)
5am today Icebreaker foaled a healthy light bay colt by Apiro.
Pics to come!
Finally & congratulations to all of you.
Congrats!!! So happy to hear all went well. Can’t wait for pics
