Decisions, Decisions.....what equipment makes the most sense?

Here is how we progressed after buying 19 acres. We bought a JD compact tractor with FEL and bush hog even before the house/barn were built. Then came a riding lawnmower for right around the house about a couple of years later. Then about 10 years later, we got a JD gator with a dump.

For reference, I have a 6-stall barn, two run in sheds, a hay/sawdust shed, outdoor arena. We did all of the fencing, the arena and the hay/sawdust shed ourselves with the tractor/FEL. Could not have done all that without it.

Get a lawn mower for the lawn mowing at the house and a small tractor and bush hog for the pastures fields etc…
A tractor that has a bucket attachment is handy for so many reasons and it gives you the option of moving big bales as well as moving / spreading manure/ bedding , fertilizing and other things.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the input and advice! I think we’re going to go with another Kubota with a FEL and a riding mower to start with. I think that will cover our basic needs for now!

A mower is indispensable, you don’t want to mow with scissors, do you?

Everything else you can do with a dolly and wheelbarrow, but may take days to get it all done like that.
That is where the tractor with FEL really will pay for itself.

With that FEL, you can add screw on or chain on points to it and a pallet and carry about as much as you would with the UTV with a dump bed, until you want to buy that one third item.
There are many kinds of those forks to fit all kinds of buckets.

just saying

1. Hire lawn company to maintain your treasured landscaping
2. ATV for everything barn / stall / manure
3. Tractor FEL & brush hog for pasture …

We found the most difficult :eek:/ time consuming to be maintaining the around the property landscaping = eye candy parts … entrance and around the house.
Hiring a company for seasonal upkeep saved Time & SANITY :lol: !!!
