Deep Leather Conditioner w/o Residue

I like higher standards, especially since the soap can really be used as a daily cleaner/conditioner. They advertise it as conditioning for daily use, so I just take a very lightly damp sponge to the cleaner and the wipe down my tack. I don’t use a sponge so wet that it suds up unless I am really trying to deep clean my leather. The conditioner is much easier to apply once it’s warmed up. I’ve had more of an issue getting too much on my sponge lately than not enough. It is a little greasy for my liking, but it does dry with a beautiful matte finish on my saddle.

Other products I really like are Mad Cow leather care (Smartpak carries this) and Stubben’s hamanol. The hamanol smells weird, but it is very thick and moisturizing. Dries really “clean” with no residue and really moisturizes the saddle. I save this for when I do a deep clean and want to replace the moisture I’ve stripped out of my saddle from cleaning. The Mad Cow is similar to the higher standards leather cleaner. It’s quick and easy to wipe down tack daily after a ride. Wouldn’t use it for a real deep clean though.

@Legallygray86 and @CanteringCarrot – Try getting it a little warm. Alternatively, use the same mildly damp sponge or rag you used for the soap. I prefer washcloths because the nap seems to help pull up grime.

I have been really impressed with EvoEquine’s Leather Balm. Love how it conditions my tack, and it leaves everything with a nice ‘grip’ when I’m done (as opposed to feeling greasy.) My next favorite is the Effax Lederbalsam.
