Anyone watching and see the rider in Int repeatedly on handed whip, and kick her horse with spurs, flail all over and have her horse want to launch her off the entire test.
Why would the judge not whistle her out? Flat out abuse.

I saw comments after the fact - I didn’t see the ride unfortunately.
You can go back on the livestream, although not sure you want to.
I saw the tail end of her test and wished I’d seen the rest. Don’t see where I can rewind on the live feed? It wasn’t pretty, they gave her a very generous score (51%) and then Eliminated her.
Might have to wait until the live stream ends.
Do you mean PSG?
It was I-2. The rider was Shelley Browning. If you want to watch go to the AWCDF Facebook page and find the first live stream of the day today (Jan 19). The test is around the 50 minute mark.
I won’t comment on the rider because she is an amateur but I will say the horse is a freaking rock star.
Thanks for describing how to watch the test, BigMama. Wow, that horse is incredible! I also won’t comment on the rider for obvious reasons. But wow, that horse!
OMG!!! Just watched a replay of the live stream. That poor horse!!
I’m watching the livestream of the I-1 now.
Is she showing that poor horse again during this competition?
Oh my, poor horse. The commentator was trying very hard to be polite. His comment on her use of the whip for her ineffective legs comment was accurate and very polite. When he whispered ouch every time she whomped that poor horse with both spurs I was screaming at the screen for someone to ring her out. Everybody has a bad ride from time to time, this was not that. This was a bad rider clearly taking out her shortcomings on a good horse.
I’m watching now. I love hearing Axel’s commentary, and he is answering questions between rides. I also thought it was super that they were doing little behind the scenes pieces between the classes. The interview with Marie Medosi to discuss putting together a freestyle was awesome. And Steffen and Mopsie will be debuting their new freestyle at the next show. I think I need to plan on watching that one for sure!
@BigMama1 - there are a number of Canadians here, too!
I just have so many questions regarding the rider most of you are referring to. How is she competing at that level? Who allows/endorses this? How/why did they let her continue her test? That horse is a saint. Someone clearly trained it well.
Axel commented several times that there isn’t really any provision under the current rules for the judges to ring her out.
As for why her trainer would allow her to compete to far above her skill level it’s hard to say. I can speculate that perhaps some people simply don’t take no for an answer?
It is a good example that all the money in the world can’t buy your way to Grand Prix, if you don’t have the strength, balance, fitness, skills, and experience to ride at that level. If you put me on that horse with that movement and asked me to ride that test, I might well look exactly like that rider, minus the whipping and spurring. That’s why I still struggle along at First level
She scratched her remaining classes.
The horse - Vorst D - is a saint and her best teacher. Hopefully she treats him better at home than she did in the show ring.
Highly unlikely. I have the utmost sympathy for that poor horse.
Is there not a rule regarding keeping both hands on the reins at all times? She one hand hit the horse with the whip several times. Wasn’t Tristan Tucker eliminated from a European CDI not long ago for taking a hand off the reins to pat his horse?
Axel did say something about her taking a hand off the rein. I can’t remember exact words. Maybe someone could go back to the video and get what he said. I will try later tonight.
Do you have to have a Facepuke account to watch? I don’t find any working links to any of the streams
She was eliminated from Friday’s ride, most likely for taking her hand off the reins. Axel did mention there was a rule that both hands must stay on the reins. On Thursday, she only did it once, at A, and on the outside away from the judges, so they either missed it or gave her the benefit of the doubt. They couldn’t miss it on Friday. Don’t know why they didn’t ring her out immediately, but Axel did mention the judges conferring after the ride. The official results have her eliminated.
