Desperate for some insights

Be very careful with Librela. It killed my elderly bloodhound. She was having some mobility issues in her hips, was otherwise healthy other than mild cardiac issues. I had seen the ads for librela and my vet said it had worked wonders so we gave it to Sally. Within 24 hours, she lost complete control of her rear end and just went downhill from there. I did some research and this is a side effect of librela that the drug company fails to mention. Some dogs recover as the drug clears their system. Poor Sally did not.

This might not apply here, but older dogs often become weak in their hind ends. In TCM, that can indicate weak or failing kidneys. Acupuncture can strengthen the kidney meridian and may help. It helped my first dog’s sleep incontinence while treating the weakness. Some herbs, especially warming ones, can help as well. I don’t know too much about all this but it’s fascinating how it all works.

We are saying good bye today. Its been a rough 24 hours and my handsome is done fighting. It all doesnt make sense as all of the testing on Tuesday showed a very healthy, albeit older, dog. Briards are difficult dogs but they love their families fiercely. I was trying to syringe some broth into him this AM and he was clamping his lips shut. Opinionated to the very end.

Oh no, I am so very sorry this is the outcome here. You gave him a good honest try, and now a peaceful end. It’s just so unfair that their lives are so brief.

I’m sorry. I would probably do the same; my fear would be that waiting would be putting off the inevitable and adding more suffering. So sorry. Hugs.
