Devin Ryan @ Hamptons

heard a rumor, I don’t want to be the first to say “out loud” b/c I’m hoping it’s not true, so… anyone hear anything?

I think I heard it too! Spill it.

Don’t leave us hanging!! That’s cruel!!!

Make an alter and spill it!

Renaming the thread and deleting your post is another option.

I heard it too from someone who was there. I’m pretty shocked.

Name it “how to train a horse to jump 1.70 without a trainer”

No one will suspect a thing

If DR is involved, I’m guessing sensitizing legs, poling, enthusiastic use of a whip a la George Morris.

Does GM advocate those methods? The allegations from what I heard are pretty serious. How does USEF respond to such things if they are true (compared to say a drugging situation a la Inclusive)?

Soooo is anyone going to say the rumor or do I need to go make a thread on HSD to actually hear it?

It’s on Diva already.

What is he getting into Big Lick now!?

I really thought he was a good guy. Does everyone at the top of the sport do things like this? I am known for being naive… is it just a fact that they all do it, they just don’t all get caught? The most upsetting thing is that he is a wonderful rider with wonderful horses. He doesn’t need to do this to win. Not that “needing” to is an excuse. Just sad.

Glad someone beat me to it! They know how to get stuff answered.

From previous interactions, I would be hard pressed to say he was a good guy. YMMV.

Thanks comingback, I have not met him personally, so my impression was what another person had said about him (emphatically).

If all the horses in your barn reportedly have open sores all over their legs you are NOT in the “nice person” category.

One thing for sure…none of those horses are going to want to touch a pole or anything else with sores on legs. There are some real sickos among us and the horses have no one to rely on except those in charge. Sure hope that if these allegations are valid…officials give maximum penalties.

What’s the protocol for something like this? Obviously, if show management and/or a steward saw it, the governing association takes action (one would hope), but wouldn’t the local police also be looped in? I think this (allegation) qualifies as animal cruelty.

According to the Diva thread, he will be exhibiting at Saugerties very soon. Stewards, be very aware
