I have been watching all day on my cell phone with no issues.
Bumping this up because it’s late Saturday afternoon and the Pony Hunt Team competition has just started. Catie Staszak doing commentary. Over in the Dixon Oval, the Junior Hunter Stake is going on.
Did anyone else have trouble with volume? I am watching equitation championship and there is none
No, it played fine for me in chrome all weekend!
To continue on this thread with all things Devon, the Welcome Stake has just started live-streaming!
Who is this doing the commentary?
Her voice is a little annoying to my judgmental ears.
Catie Staszak–I like her! She sounds very young but I find her comments about both the riding and the rider bios to be helpful and educational.
After some bobbles with the first couple of riders, the course is riding very well.
Me too, which is why I was asking. I wish she would stop talking so much; some of the info she has is interesting, which is why I haven’t just muted it yet, but I wish she’d tone it down a little.
Why be so nasty about a younger person learning the ropes. You have to start somewhere, don’t you? She is doing a fine job.
She does sound young and earnest. I appreciate that she’s clearly well-prepared with a crib sheet about the horses. If she ends up doing this more often, some vocal coaching might help her settle on the tone she wants to project. I think really good sports commentators have a good blend of the color commentary, the educational aspects, and using tone to build up anticipation.
I’ve enjoyed having nice horses to watch on my lunch break this week.
Really exciting jump-off ride from Andy Kocher! He is so much fun to watch. Especially impressive that he won going so early.
Quite a large field for the jump-off but given the depth of talent, not unexpected.
She was quite knowledgeable, but definitely needs to work on tone. Overall very enjoyable. Best of luck to her!!!
Friendly reminder to all that the Sapphire Grand Prix is starting!
Apologies for constantly bumping this thread but I thought it was better than starting a million Devon 2017 threads.
Catie Staszak and Oliver Kennedy doing the commentating tonight.
Anyone else feel like it’s not really appropriate for a US rider to be wearing a red coat when they haven’t earned one by being on a team?
I’ll be in the fuddy duddy corner if anyone needs me.
Also, I am completely in love with that Breitling LS horse. What a jump! :love-struck:
I am holding my breath for Bongo!
I noticed the coat as well, I wondered if it was burgundy (which has become more popular) and looked more red on the livestream video.
Edited to add—YES!
Yay Bongo!! What a great jumpoff!
No doubt!
I’ve been really impressed by Katherine Strauss’s riding lately. She just rode a lovely clear in the Idle Dice stake.
