Diamant de Semilly with my mare

^^ This is too bad, and quite unusual. Diamant is known for having some of the very best frozen semen on the market. And in my experience, that is completely true; it is phenomenal stuff! Most breeders I know use a single straw when breeding to him; that’s what I did with two young maidens and got pregnancies both times. It’s unfortunate that it didn’t work for you.
Emerald is lovely, though, and I’d love to use him someday!

Thanks for sharing your experience JazCreek, I am sorry to hear that you used 2 doses that didn’t take. Nonetheless, sounds like you ended up with a star prospect. And Hillside, that is also what I have heard about him, excellent fertility. By the way, would still love to see a photo of your filly! Is her temperament similar to Diamant? Temperament is a big one for me this time around, so even if I get a slightly stocky prospect, if he or she is athletic, sound and has a good temperament, I will still be happy.

I literally only have a recent candid of my filly, in a group of other yearlings. She’s the dark bay.

I also have two inspection photos in this album, but they’re misleading. They’re from a year ago; as she has matured she has grown in width and mass, but not much in length of leg. She looks like a stout quarter horse right now

Thanks Hillside, quite a beautiful filly nonetheless!

I bought just one frozen dose of DdS based on the fact that it is generally regarded as “rocket fuel” so it was definitely disappointing to hear that three of us all had bad luck with it this year. Luckily we have the Emerald on the way and I will try DdS at some point again in the future I am sure, he is still high on the list!

I did two ET attempts this year with DdS on my Contender x Quidam dR mare and we have pregnancies from both. I also just used one straw as a dose, so obviously I’m thrilled. But I’m not so excited that Liz says her baby looks like a QH because my mare already does a bit- wasn’t hoping to accentuate those traits! Lol. We shall see!

Lol, Karina  I’m sure you’ll be fine…genetics are funny, though! I did get just a candid shot of the DdS yearling today (she’s actually 16 months now). She’s certainly no “leggy beauty queen”, but if she can jump then I won’t care! As an FYI, I included a pic of the dam from her inspection last year, as a 4 yr old (she’s now 5 and today measured 16.2). So…this is just my personal experience!

I think she looks great! I bet she will jump

I don’t think she looks like a QH at all. 16 months is a hard age and I actually think she looks pretty well put together for a long yearling!
