Just not right at all
Milo needs to learn that there is a time and place to be cooperative and accommodating, and that’s not it
felix - if you restrict the “link” language like this:
www.tellicofarm.com/horses/emu/acrosspasture.jpg
it will work. For all others if you copy and past that in another window you can see the pics.

Maybe Emusement can be lured into the $75K round pen, then herded into a stock trailer? I would pay to watch this, you understand… </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
The visuals on this have me ROFLMAO. And I have seen that round pen - if the emu has found his way in there I think we can all conclude it has at least a little bit of sense . . . although I have to say LMH’s barn wouldn’t have been a bad choice either
Though thank goodness Emusement hasn’t figured that out yet
Feel free if you dare BAC-just don’t drink the water.
Thanks for the update. Have been following with rapt attention. Definitely Emusing.
On the Today Show this morning they were going to show the Belair emu being chased and caught. Didn’t have time to stay and watch but I taped it, can’t wait to see what happened. LMH, next time call NBC and maybe we’ll get to see you on TV.
I just looked at the pictures! I’m laughing so hard I can’t breath! I especially love “what the horses did all day!” Their ears must be tired!
Emu-cam! And more pictures!
Well there may be hope-my neighbor blocked the short gate that allowed him to get on fenceline so at least he isn’t right THERE.
Darnnit Milo in his panic thwacked himself with his eye somewhere and it is running and he is seems like it is owie.
This is after he panicked the first day the darn thing arrived and pulled back while tied and body slammed me against a wall for over 10 seconds. I hurt.
Damn bird. I think I am definitely losing my sense of humor over him.
I am trying to keep good spirits over this.
And my neighbor-she is the one really having to deal with this.
I think EMU ownership should require a license.
Or perhaps a course called Natural EMuShip. Even irritated I still got it!
Is anyone feeding this poor bird.?
He must be starving by now.?
The one down the road from me eats dog food apparently.
Actually we could just have an EMu roping event—have beverages (adult cocktails) and video the whole event, of course photos for COTH…
Hmmmmm…maybe make it a contest? collect money for a local EMU rescue??? Obviously we now know there is a need?
LMH - How are the horses today? Any new antics?
Unless he’s a privately bred backyard pet (not too likely) - he’s microchipped - you can check that out and maybe track his owners.
SPOT! The Emu went to a nice rescue in Dawsonville GA-I think it is called Rainbow Ranch. My neighbor it was a nice facility and they do a world of good-they are also in dire need of buckets and feed and things…so if anyone needs to unload some money for tax purposes, it would be a good cause
Of course, designated for the Emu (they have FOUR!).

Why didn’t that link???
There was recently an article in the Cherokee Ledger (the free paper) about a man who traps and removes animals. He has caught coyotes, bobcats etc. I bet he would love to add “emu” on his resume. I believe he does exterminate them, but does use as much of the animal as he can for food or product. He may be worth a try.
Okay, I think you’re approaching this from the wrong direction. Forget using Parelli to desensitize the horses to the emu. The bird has been with you now for four days. Plenty of time to take it through level 1. Once the bird knows level 1, then you can desensitize the horses. By sending the bird away from you, and the horses. Then the horses think they’re chasing the bird. Which is the best desensitizing technique ever. Voila. Happier emu, happier horses, happier LMH.
LOL, and i thought i had it tough, finding the owners of the stray dog i found! LOLOL!!!
One thing we thought about doing was using corral panels to corner it and make sure it is secure so it can’t get out, at least until animal control gets their act together. You may want to consider doing that this afternoon if you have access to panels or something similar - I certainly understand your concerns.

Well of course. This afternoon I had to make my monthly trek up to TC Supply and I always go past Chez Round Pen (although it has faded a bit in splendor now that Le New Barn-palace is blocking part of the view, isn’t it?).
I was counting on some Live Emusement as I drove by, but peace reigned over your little neck of the woods. Sigh. So I just had to amuse myself by wondering who takes care of Showcase when everyone is gone!
