quote:

Not once did you ask any of us how WE felt?! If we were sad because we had nothing amusing to read any more. IF WE wanted the emu to stay or to go …

TRUE FACT!!! I saw a fellow COTH’er today. She is so depressed that you let that poor emu reside elsewhere that she has given up the boards and will not even allow me to forward her any new emu(sorry)-ing threads. You have ruined this poor woman and I have to agree 200% with Spot.
Does anyone ever watch the “Best Week Ever” show on VH1? At some point last week I was flipping chanels & came upon it just as a picture of an Emu chase was being taken off the screen. Never did get a chance to see why they were discussing Emus, but of course I found it very emusing.
And every time the Verizon commercial on TV I laugh. Aparently the people in their add department are well aware of the curent problem with emus.
So Spot, can neighbor give your address as potential Emusement Park…I’m sure they’d love to adopt him out…
WHA HAPPENED???
Thanks JMS-no I didn’t…at this point I can’t do anymore. Yesterday it became apparent that my concern and offering help was only adding to my neighbor’s stress.
Let’s just say I should keep to my own business since the damn Emu isn’t on my farm and worry about getting my horses over him so we can go back to being a safety farm!
If these birds are so valuable you would think it would be easy to find someone to take it. Can you put a tranquilizer in with some feed if the dart is too dangerous? It might be easier to just start feeding it and keep it yourself. Eventually the horses will get used to it right? What an interesting life you lead.
Hum, I need to be put on a pedestal. Where do you find one?

quote:
Originally posted by LMH:

I guess that would require getting close enough to touch the EMU???

because emu’s and ostriches are so pricey, every breeder I’ve ever heard of microchips their birds. It also tracks their genetics and breeding.
And yep - somebody’s gonna have to <gaso> touch it! They’re neat birds - I like them - and would love to have one when I get ‘country’ property as opposed to the backyard I have now!
Gosh-I guess y’all have been waiting for another EMUsing update!
I swear I think he is just here to stay…forever.
My neighbor has decided to take the bull by the horns and is going to negotiate this emu one way or another-onto her trailer!
No animal control today, no dart gun today…and one emu…pacingpacingpacingpacingpacing…
So I decided to take the EMU by the horns and PARELLI-IZE my darn horses to the EMU…you know good kind hearted members of the Parelli cult??? The Seven Games with an EMU!
First in hand was Milo-at 17.1h I thought we would begin at the top. Sadly, the poor WB/QH cross was hiding his TB side and never even noticed EMUSEMENT…
Well…to heck with THAT say I!!! So I grabbed my retired 20yoish Polo and decided I would kill 2 emus with one stone…I have never exposed poor dear Polo to any foolish form or fashion of the 7 games, Parelli or NH (all such training would be terribly beneath him)…well we can’t say that after today!
Armed with one carrot stick, savvy string, an old wishes he was dead hunter and an EMU I went to the field.
Poor guy-I have never seen his little legs move so…suspended in all my days-anyone remembering Polo should get a chuckle out of that visual.
So I guess Emusement finally decided to be a darn friendly neighbor and mosey on down to the fenceline-that was worthy of Game 8-flag your tail at an EMU…I stood and admired my newly purebred arabian with awe and wonder…and bEMUsement.
So that is all I have for today-just another emu in paradise!
When IS that rodeo roundup coming along???
I totally agree with JMS, so very sad!
Thinking hard here…
Yea!!! My all time favorite thread!
I guess because I draw cartoons, I think like a cartoon. Every time I picture your emu, I hear the Roadrunner form Bugs Bunny making his meep-meep sound as it races through your pasture! Do you have a video of it? If you do you ought to dub that sound in at the appropriate moments! If you could post that on here, that should boost your Emu thread views!
Screw the emu pics, I want to see the Chez Round Pen pics!
yup - i think about your emu each time i see it!

quote:

walking feather dusters.

That is so I’m just going to have to go search for my emu-ictionary and add that one in.
There is an Emu living down the road from me.
The fence is only 4’ high.
I stop and talk to it often, have told the owners I would give it a home anytime, but they love it.
If you have it contained in a round pen.
you should be able to get hold of it when it is dark.
please be careful and hold it’s wings close to its body ,they break easily.{assuming emus have wings,I have never seen the one I talk to flap its wings.
It would be a good idea to tie it’s legs together, then they wont get broken, plus it wont be able to kick you.
Yea, “Animal Cops Atlanta”… That’d be the day!
LMH/felix - did the emu originate from the funky farm/kennel up Union Hill on the left? The one with the sheep, goats and other critters?
Maybe Emusement can be lured into the $75K round pen, then herded into a stock trailer? I would pay to watch this, you understand…
Madison I somehow feel like the mom that caught her young son and his bestfriend in the room doing things…I just wish their father was home soon to handle it.
I think I just found a reason for getting married.
Perhaps YOU would care to come have the talk with Milo-OR even better bring Miss Madison over and maybe that will put things back in order.
omg Felix that is the cutest pic of all four of your horses lined up on the hill. They’re all like
Party Rose you forgot;
EMUNITION!
