Did you know that Great American is changing their policies on Eventers?

Loss of use has changed a lot in many disciplines.

I know the estimate for Cudo (Show jumper) to have it on his policy (not available at all with current policy) was WAY out of my ability to afford it with the companies that did offer it.

I didnā€™t even look into loss of use for mine (h/j, but just got him covered as an eventer too because Iā€™m paranoid). Both my agent and my friend (a large animal vet) told me it would be extremely hard to recover on and likely not worth the $$$.

It has to be a pretty catastrophic injury for loss of use to apply, and itā€™s an expensive coverage to have ā€˜just in caseā€™. Most policies read that a vet has to make the determination within the policy period, so depending on when the issue happens you donā€™t get to wait it out and see if the horse improves with treatment, time off, etc.

The agency I worked for used to only offer if for Dressage and H/J horses, but we rarely saw any clients actually choose the coverage.
