Dixie National Quarter Horse Sale

I am still looking for a reined cowhorse/ASHA show horse or well started prospect for the upcoming year. I do have a horse I am trying to work a deal on but the owner and I are at a stalemate so I have started looking again. So far, I have found NOTHING!!!

Has anyone ever gone to the Dixie National Sale? Is it mostly pleasure/halter horses or are there a fair amount of cowhorses?

Thanks!

It’s been years since I went but it’s mostly halter/WP.

There’s a FB group called Deep South Horse Network that may yield some possible horses.

Thanks Katarine, do you have a link to the site? I tried looking it up but could not find it on FB.

I wouldn’t expect to find anything at the Dixie National. I would encourage you to contact Amanda Johnson who I bet can help you.

LOL Rtph! Do we know one another? I have been riding with Amanda weekly for the past 3 years! I am trying to buy Blue but the owner and I cannot come to an agreement yet and someone is looking at him today! She is looking for me and just sent me an email about one in Florida.

Amanda is the best!!!

Wow small world! We might very well know each other. I showed a greenie in the ASHA Region 2 during 2010, but haven’t shown since then. Does SF still own Blue?

Hmm… I may have missed you. I did not start showing with ASHA until 2011. I had a 16 hand horse in the novice classes. Sadly, he has developed some lameness issues so I am now looking for a new show horse. SF never did own Blue, he was just the trainer. I always thought he owned him, until Amanda got him. We will see, I love that horse. If the people do not buy him today, I have a feeling the owner and I can work something out. We were very close last week.

If you hear of any good ones for sale until then, let me know! I am looking for a gelding only. I am glad to see more and more western people on the board! You should come back to the ASHA!!

I was just about to tell you about a little mare I have that was the ASHA Region 2, Reserve Champ All Around Greenie in 2010 (Also ALSHA). So let me know if you might be interested in a mare. Amanda knows her, but she’s never been for sale. Tell her I’m the old guy that rode the Crates Roper/Reiner with the little “black” (really bay) mare that used to do a little ‘buck’ when she did her lead changes. LOL. She doesn’t do that anymore.

I will return to ASHA showing, just not sure when. I intended to show another greenie in 2012, but she was only 2 and small and not quite ready.

I honestly didn’t realize that you are right there in Carrollton. I just read your post and that you were considering going to Dixie Nat, so I thought you might be in the southeast and should contact Amanda.

Good luck and I will let you know if I hear of a good gelding.

I wish I could do a mare but my boys are rowdy enough! LOL!!! Amanda and I are doing the Stock Horse of Dixie shows together. Like our site on Facebook! I hope I can meet up with you at a show sometime!!

I “liked” SHOD as soon as I received an invitation from Amanda to ‘like’ it which was about 3 mos or so ago.

Thank you and we will look forward to meeting you too!
