I make a base with Fieblings hoof oil. add 10 oz of pine tar and 10oz of codliver oil. Makes enough to last me a looong time. I may add coconut oil next time as well. My farrier used to oil the feet just to" finish" them with hoof oil and has recently changed to plain coconut oil from costco. Seems to leave a nive matte finish that lasted a few days

Sigh I forgot to oil his hooves the last time I worked him and he hadn’t been worked for months due to work and rain. The sand was still a bit wet from the rain.
He now has a layer of sand melded to his hoof. It is difficult to remove even when dry. I won’t forget again.
