Do fancy anatomical bridles actually make a difference?

I’m interested in this Kieffer that’s similar to the Marcus Ehning, comes in brown, has articulation points on the noseband, and has a completely adjustable and removable flash with no loop remaining when you remove it: https://www.eaglewoodequestrian.ca/product/kieffer-ultrasoft-amy-snaffle-bridle/# or https://kiefferusa.net/collections/bridles/products/kieffer-ultrasoft-amy-snaffle-bridle. I’m just trying to figure out if the crownpiece will work for him.

Thanks for that! I did end up ordering one and I’m returning it. It didn’t fit great (my horse runs between a cob and horse size), didn’t seem to sit right and like you, not impressed with the leather. Oh well thought it was maybe worth a try. I’m currently looking to see if I can make some modifications to my Micklem bridle.

Ooooh I like the look of that Kieffer bridle! That’s the basic design I think I’m looking for. Are the cheek pieces attached to the noseband like the Micklem?

No, they aren’t attached as far as I can see. I like everything else about it though!

Yeh I went on another website and got a better view and saw that it wasn’t. Oh well! Lol hopefully this one works for you and your horse, my search (quest at this point!) continues

Oh, too bad :frowning: And too bad I have two of them. One i got to paint blue, and the other one i send to my artist friend to make noseband/browband covers for. Both bridles will be used for ‘fancy’. Like around other people…which rarely happens.

Have you seen this one? Not as pricey, similar design where it is not attached to noseband:

Kieffer for $200 is not bad… I am almost regretting my recent splurge because that would be in my cart yesterday otherwise!

I don’t like that you have to use the flash. Beautiful bridle otherwise!

I strongly recommend not separating tack fancy/not fancy. You horse doesn’t know schooling versus show, all theyll know is it feels different than what they’re used to.

Get the nice stuff, paint it how you like or whatever, then use it every day and just take really good care of it.

I think you can remove the strap. Either that or we are being lied to by their web page!

What’s the difference between the Kieffer Rachel and the other Kieffer one Libby posted (apart from price)?

The crownpieces of the Rachel and Amy have a different shape and padding. Rachel might actually have a better contour for my horse but doesn’t come in brown.

Rachel:

ETA: The Viola has a similar design as well and does come in brown: https://kiefferusa.net/collections/snaffle-bridles/products/kieffer-vera-snaffle-bridle-1?variant=39443720339518 (don’t know why that link says Vera…it’s to the Viola).

Before I ordered my current bridle, I ordered the Kieffer Rachel. The sizing was wrong for my behemoth mare (Kieffer’s warmblood or whatever their large horse size is called wasn’t big enough), and I was not impressed with the leather. So back it went.

Now, maybe the leather would have taken up some conditioner or balsam and then would have looked nice. I obviously wasn’t going to do that with a bridle that I promptly returned. But the leather was not up to the quality I expected for the money.

That’s a bummer! I’m not that much of a leather snob if the fit is good so I might still consider it, but it’s good to know. What did you end up with?

Yes, LOL! I have to laugh because I finally got around to putting together my “fancy” bridle and the first ride I had in it, all I could think was WTH is wrong with my horse? After the second ride, yesterday, I think the problem is the noseband, to her, must look like a shadow roll. It’s bigger and different and heavier than what she’s used to. Even tho it’s the same bit. The reins are heavier too. I will say the second ride was better than the first, here’s hoping today’s is “back to normal”.
So YES, ride in your fancy tack before you have to go somewhere in it!

So the Kieffer Rachel and Amy differ by crownpiece, and the Viola and Rachel differ by price and color?

I wish I heard more about the Stubben Freedom, my current Stubben bridle is 15+ years old, ridden without noseband. I love the leather, but it is time…

I asked a Kieffer vendor and this is the answer I got:

“The Kieffer Viola and Rachel are basically the same bridle except for the browbands. The leather used and crown pieces are the same. The Amy Snaffle Bridle is made from the ultrasoft leather and has a slightly different crown.”

I saw Wendy today and no, she hasn’t had time to find the thread, but I told her there was a request for pony size (and they were shopaholics)… she seemed interested.

Why don’t you email her a note at info@shophalterego.com? Maybe pick the ones you like and see if they can be offered in pony size?

Just want to say I second and love this comment! It’s good horsemanship, I think.
