Does anyone else think fake tails are creepy?

I had a Saddlebred, so we keep their tails up so they grow. It’s a saddlebred thing, not a driving thing. This horse grew A LOT of tail. I think about 6" got cut off at every show to keep it from getting caught in wheels. When I stopped showing him, it stopped getting cut. He was a sweetie, but a lousy show horse. The real shame was he loved horse shows.

ETA - It’s not uncommon to see the tails of school horses kept up like a show horse, just to grow a tail, especially if it’s a light color (expensive). Just another way to pay for schoolies.

When I first watched AQHA shows, way back when, the fashion in halter horses and many others was to trim the tail a lot. The idea was that it would sit between the buttocks, showing off the big booty. If it went past the hocks many were suspicious that it was trying to hide bad hocks. The pleasure horses had more natural but not luxurious tails.

I didnt see shows for many years. I was shocked when I then attended a QH show and saw tails I had only seen on saddleseat horses before! Quite a different look.

I am sure there a lot of well-done fake tails I cant even spot. I do object to the hugely full and down to the ground fakes some use. Cynical me wonders if they are hiding a busy tail or poor movement.
