To the person who added insoles to their Dubarry’s - I was surprised at how comfy the Dubarry’s are - when I first put them on, they are very flat in the bottom, but they somehow seem to shape to your feet. I always like good support for my feet, but have found them very comfortable somehow.

Earlier, I mentioned that I LOVE my Dublin’s! And I still do…however, there is now a small hole in the back seam. I contacted Dublin last week, where it states on their website how quickly they respond…and sadly, I still have not heard from them. I am really upset, as they are only a year old and I really, really like them.
Dublin’s response to my hole in the seam was for me to take them to a repair shop and have them fixed!
I now wear them for mowing the yard.
I found a cool pair in a tack store that are canvas and leather. Not sure who makes them, but I do get lots of compliments on them.

… Her best guess is the mucking out breaks down the boot faster. Her second pair goes dog walking through mud and snow and slush, but seem to be fine. So she thinks it’s something about the manure or peed on shavings that’s destroying the other pair.
My Dubarrys came with a tag that mentioned how barnyard usage can break down the leather faster than normal due to pH levels, ammonia, etc. in animal waste. Dubarry recommends really keeping up with the cleaning and conditioning of boots that are used for that purpose, which makes sense.
I got my Dubarry boots in Dec 2010, I have used then every year in the winter as all round boots and that is in the barn as well. I love them, I do clean them once every few months in the winter and I always rinse them off as I leave the barn to make sure there is nothing on them. They are most like like my most used shoes/boots. As I told my DH yesterday I want a new pair just for town use.
I have no problem taking the little bit of time to clean and condition them as need be to keep them going. They are leather and leather needs to be looked after. It is the same thing I do with my tack and saddles, look after it and it will last a life time.
So I went to Rolex and tried on the Dublin River boots and Pinnacles, Ovation Rhona, and Dubarrys. My calf is wide and I had trouble with the Rhona and River boots (why oh why do these boots not have loops? They’d be perfect!) so I bought the Pinnacles feeling rather blah about them. Went back the next day and tried on the Galways. I was sold from the first time I stood up! The boot just fit right. I added an Ariat innersole so I’d have some arch support and 2 weeks later, I absolutely LOVE them.
Wore them for the first time on XC and after they were covered in mud, muck, and godknowswhat, I stopped by the Dubarry booth to inquire about how to clean them up. The manager looked at my boots and said, “hose 'em off.” I was bumfuzzled–expecting to be talked into some $40 cleaner/conditioner. Nope! Apparently until they are well-broken in, I don’t need to do a thing.
I have discovered 2 alternate uses for country boots which nobody mentioned previously! 1) they are great for snake protection when walking the dog. (Someone please tell ZuZu!) 2)They will be awesome for a pirate costume on Halloween!

Thinking of putting the Dublin Pinnacles on my Christmas list but want to double check that they are comfy for riding. I don’t want to have to change into something else to ride. I currently ride in paddock boots and half chaps. Any thoughts?
I ride in them all the time, and just love them - in fact, I love them so much that I bought all my last year’s breeches in cocoa-ish colors to go with. (Totally awesome look, if I do say so myself.)
I originally chose them because of the side laces, which make them very versatile, but no amount of tightening will make the ankle anything like snug. At first this bugged me no end, but now I actually prefer it, oddly enough. My regular boots feel like torture devices in comparison.
So yeah. Go for it. Mine are happily striding into their third year, and still look super.
