I purchased Dubarry boots this past fall and really like them. I wear them to the barn, to work, and wherever. It’s not unusual to get a compliment on them though the random guy at Costco that stopped me to say “nice boots” was a little  Anyhow, I am quite happy with the purchase.
Do NOT like my Dubarrys…my high arched feet hurt so bad in the flat unsupported foot bed!! Plus like tall boots without a zipper they can be a struggle to get into…prefer my Ariats Waterproof paddock boots Thank You and I can afford to replace them every other year!! Noticeably Dubarrys quality has lessened…
not in my budget…I’ve even bought some horses for less … and then spent a fortune on them!
My friend just got a pair…hope they are comfortable, I’m not taken by their looks.
I bought my Dublin boots in 2011 for under $200. I’ve completely abused them - wearing around the barn all year long - and they’re still waterproof and in great condition except for being very dirty. I work in the city, and some of my co-workers have Dubarry boots. They sell them at the Philadelphia Flower Show, and my non-horsey friends are surprised when I tell them they are “horse people” boots, while my horsey friends are surprised that they really aren’t made just for “horse people” I do think the Dubarry’s are prettier than my Dublin’s, and more of a status symbol

I got a pair for Christmas and wore them for the first time today. I definitely can’t ride in them. They are too short as they kept catching on the flap of my saddle. I am super bummed as I really like them. Is there something out there that is cute, warm AND something you can ride in or do I have to compromise?
I like the Ariat Brossards. I wear them for riding and also wear them with my skinny jeans (after a bit of cleanup!)
Has anyone found the craftsmanship of the Dubarry’s has changed? I had my first pair as a graduation present in 2007 and they are still going strong! They have been well used and abused in endless mud in winter in England and through flooding in Florida and only now are starting to look scruffy (I rode in them a couple of times the saddle left black marks on the calf area :(, not my saddle or horse I might add!! ) I had heard stories of people replacing them and having them leak after 6 months etc. and I obviously don’t want to waste money if this is the case…
Im sucking it up and have my dubarrys on order! Whoot. Stay tuned for the review.
I’ve had both the Dubarry’s and the Dublin’s. I go through shoes REALLY fast, and the Dubarry’s are the only thing so far that I have had that last enough to make it worth my while, thus worth the price for me.
The Dublin’s literally disintegrated on me in about 3 months. I bought another pair, and they did the same thing. Received a pair of Dubarry’s as a gift and they stayed in great shape for almost 2 years. Considering the speed at which I destroy shoes, that was a record. My wellies only made it about 4-5 months, most other brands of muck boots do about 2-3 months (I don’t have a clue what I do to the things, they just tend to fall apart, or I walk straight through the soles in short order).
I literally LIVE in my Dubarry’s. They’re the only thing on my feet if I leave the house, 7 days a week. I’m onto pair number 2 now, about 6 months in, and they still look pretty new.
I own two pairs of Dublins and love them. The older one needed to have Dr Scholls put in after a little under a year, but that’s something I expect out of a muck boot. It depends on your leg entirely, but my calf is slightly under 18" (the dublins barely go about 3/4 of the way up it) and both of the Dublins I own will catch on the flap of most dressage saddles. Haven’t had an issue with an AP yet.
I own the Pinaccle and the Turndown, neither of which appear to have a Dubarry counterpart. I don’t like the horizontal stripes on the Dubarrys, which is why I don’t own a pair.
OK, I ordered some Pinnacles - they’re supposed to be here Thursday (unless they’re delayed by the weather fiascos…). I’m kinda hard on shoes, too, so we’ll see. I do like the look of them. If they don’t work…I’ll save up for some Dubarry’s maybe. Or maybe summer will be here.
I love my dubarrys. Wore them all over Ireland without breaking them in prior to the trip. Shouldn’t have packed any other shoes.
3 years later, I still love them.
OK, I think the Pinnacles aren’t going to work for me and my (apparently) bony ankles. The internal part where the lacing is - very lumpy, bumpy and right against my ankle bone. Even with socks/jean breeches underneath (which is what I figured for trail riding). Sigh… Wish I could try on a pair of Dubarry’s…or the multiple other ones out there!
I finally got my galways and freakin LOVE them. I did put a foot support in, but that’s it.
I tried the Dublin knock offs and they fell apart within a month of purchase and maybe 6 times wearing them.
No regrets here!
I made up my mind to purchase them, but… my feet don’t like them. 40s and 41s were too small, 42s swam.
Tried the Dublin Pinnacles, too, and they didn’t fit me either.
Ended up with Ariats. Don’t love the look, but they are WARM, dry, and I don’t get snow down my boots.
Heh, so back when Valley Vet had their sale, I ended up ordering a pair of the Dublin Rivers as a gift and they got to me fast, and then I went back and ordered myself a pair…and they were backordered. Totally forgot about them (thanks to the horrible winter - yay frozen pipes and ice dams! I wouldn’t notmally forget a $140 purchase!!) and just got notice they shipped and should arrive today! I’m super-excited!
(of course, this is two days after I bought some Brossards in hopes of actually riding this winter, so it’s Bootapalooza for me!)
Dubarrys on Goodwill Online right now. Current price is $75, auction ends 3/4. They look to be in good shape.
StG
Ruled out the Ovation knock-offs, too…
Still not comfortable. Rubbed my ankles. I never thought my legs/ankles were that weird, but maybe they are!
My Dublins finally came in and I love them - I wish the calf were slimmer but then I probably couldn’t get my giant foot in! Does the drawstring/tie really do anything? I can’t seem to get it to, but maybe I’m not trying hard enough!
I find the foot really comfy!
Now to reread old threads about caring for them!
Bought a pair of Dubarry’s at Rolex on Wednesday and walked in them all day long through Sunday. Love them!!

HUGE fan of my Dubarry boots!!! They’re so waterproof and WARM. I only use them as winter boots and come early spring I clean them up, oil them, touch up the waterproofing, and put them in the closet until the next winter. They were a gift but I think if I had to chose between saving up for a pair or just buying a knock off, I’d chose to buy the real deal Dubarry boots. Luckily I didn’t have to make that decision. I cherish them and there is nothing like wearing those boots ALL fall/winter and actually feeling my toes at the barn!:yes:
I also have the liners with faux fur toppers and again, warm, warm, warm. Ahhhh. Nothing worse than cold, wet feet and that just doesn’t happen when I wear my Dubarry boots!
(They should pay me, eh? Just provided a raving review.)
ETA: I constantly get compliments by non-horsey people too when I wear those boots! It is so funny! I clean them up and wear them with skinny jeans and tunic tops, etc. Gosh, I practically live in my Dubarry boots half the year, now that I think about it. They are a little too warm for the spring/summer months but I am in a very hot area so pretty much anything, even a sneaker, can be awfully hot come June-Sept.
Mine were also a gift and I CAN tell the difference between them and the knockoffs. The Dubarry’s seem to breathe better.
Mr P bought them for me a few years ago at a trade fair. It turned out that the person selling them was a friend of a friend so we got a discount!
