Dog and Kitty safe mouse killer?

Thirty five year ago, NYC used Ramik in Central Park because they said that it would not affect animals eating the carcasses.

I personally put out rat bait in those safe bait containers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diphenadione

it is an anticoagulant It is toxic to all animals. It is a second generation anticoagulant and therefore more potent and long lasting that warfrin

please understand most rodent killers are very potent anticoagulants. They do not kill quickly, they kill slowly

the rodent walks away with their belly full of tasty product, if it is caught and eaten by a predator or a cat or a dog ( JRTs anyone?) the poison will impact those animals as well.

saw it far to many times in vet clinical to be a fa n of anything but traps

it does not matter if the bait is in a safe box, the issue is that the poison walks away in the rodent, sending poisoning to the environment. Dead rodents, if found, should be disposed of carefully, not just thrown out in the woods

Our barn uses RatX after a close call and a big vet bill with a dog. Works well.

It takes several days to kill them and apparently they go into their burrows and dehydrate. It’s about 20 bucks for a pound, around 30 for 3 lbs. Takes about 2 oz. per rat.
So I cut out the part where the failure of electrocution caused a rat to burn and that wasn’t humane. I’m a terrible softie about killing anything and having it suffer, so I get it. I do however own a Rat Zapper and use it for any mouse that gets in MY STUFF. Honey we can all live in peace and harmony until you screw with MY STUFF (a mouse in the house eating through the bread bag, sorry buddy, but I will draw and quarter your little mousy butt).
Sorry, but as someone who has suffered with some painful gut issues, what a way to go, over a few days with your gut killing you? I doubt there is any good way to go for a rat (unless they now sell rat barbiturates so they can just overdose and pass in their sleep? As much as a softie as I am, if they are a horrible nuisance and especially if they are a health threat to my animals or me? Off with their heads!

When I was in NYC for the Central Park Horse Show I saw huge rats in the playgrounds near the venue…

gross!!!

I just set out RatX today - it is basically corn gluten meal (and salt) pellets, no chemicals in the ingredients.

I will try to remember to post an update.
I just put out some today as well, it’s very expensive… it better work. . The little buggers are laughing at me and showing themselves with impunity, I"m a live and let live person…but enough is enough.
