Dog door options?

BuddyRoo - If there are two doors in the French door set, why not take a piece of Plexiglas cut to fit the entire opening of one door. Install the dog door in the Plexiglas and screw it to the reverse of the opening side of the door frame (if the door opens in, install on the outside, if it opens out, install on the inside). Open the door for the dog to use the dog door. You won’t be able to use the dor, but you should still be able to use the other French door.

That will work if those truly are french double doors to the outiside.
Most double doors to the outside are really parlor doors, one fixed, one a door.
That is what mine is, so I put the dog door on the one sliding screen in that opening side.
You do have to keep the inside door open for the dog to use that dog door.
That is ok while someone is home and if that door goes to a secure yard.

Thanks. I saw the custom kind that go in in lieu of a pane of the window, but these aren’t those kind of french doors. More like two front doors with big glass in the middle. That’s why I was wondering about a whole “replacement” type door maybe. I’m not finding that…but I can’t be the only one whose ever wanted to do something similar.[/QUOTE]

Bluey - I think from looking at the post above yours, that there are two separate (hopefully functional) doors. If that’s the case, my solution would work.
