She will be going to the vet tomorrow. My malamute/shepherd cross will once in a couple of weeks not eat her food and sometimes will vomit, today she didn’t eat, drank her usual amount of water, has been playing with the puppy all day, vomited blood tonight. It was like any other time she vomited, no food came up, except it was bloody. She didn’t get into anything that she’s not suppose to or eat any grass/poop for the last couple of days. No changes in her food. What does it sound like it could be? I know it’s not an obstruction, she has been peeing and pooping. She is entering her senior years, not really sure of her age, but has a good amount of gray on her muzzle.
Is it bright red blood or is it dark almost black blood?
It was bright red mixed with stomach acid.
Did she go to the vet yet? Sounds pretty serious.
I would rather see bright red. That could mean irritation. (stomach or throat)…The dark blood is more ominous to me. Vet is a good idea. Hopefully it will be a food intolerance or something along those lines irritating her. Maybe as she’s getting older, her belly is not liking something in her normal food.
She hasn’t gone yet. They don’t open until 10. I called the emergency clinic last night and told them how she was. They said I could wait until today to get it checked out.
Hopefully it’s not something major. I did switch their brand of food a couple of months ago to a grain free food. She does have a garbage gut but I have been very diligent in keeping things out of her reach. This morning she ate her breakfast and was acting normal.

While she may not have an obstruction, continuing to defecate in no way rules out an obstruction. A dog can have a sock in it’s small intestine while continuing to have a colon full of stool. I took a sock out of the stomach of one of my own a few weeks back, just hours after he defecated normally
Is it a different protein? Was she used to beef and you switched to lamb or something like that by chance? Did she start doing it sometime after the switch?

No she was vomiting before I switched to the grain free. I was always assuming she got into something, but with it being ongoing and now blood, it might be something else.
Good luck at your appointment!
I wonder if she ate something that can’t be digested, but is still in the stomach? Years ago my mother gave our lab a cob of corn, still on the cob. Mom didn’t mention for a couple of weeks, until evidence was found on the rug, that the dog ate the corn, and the cob. Poor dog could have died.
Jan, maybe. She was always getting into something just like Marley from that movie. When things she liked were way out of her reach, she had her partner in crime (the puppy) help her. The downstairs is bare, everything’s in cabinets or up high, the coffee table is out in the middle since the puppy would get up on the couch, jump onto the table, and steal the remotes or our bills. All the doors upstairs are closed too. The pup would sneak up there and either take trash out of the bathroom or snag something from the kids room. They do have plenty of toys and will use them, but occasionally they like driving me nuts. Kind of like having twin toddlers lol.

Thanks! She goes in this afternoon. My regular vet doesn’t have an x-ray, so they recommended she goes to a larger clinic.
Well the vet thinks it’s ulcers and prescribed meds to help. If her symptoms do not improve or get worse, we’ll have to do a xray
Oh no! I hope it gets better quickly with the medication. Poor girl.
Hope she is feeling better soon ~
